The Coupon Whisperer ^ | January 23, 2011 | PJ-Comix

What if I were to offer you $10 for every 54 cents you give me. Even better, to sweeten the deal for you, I would kick in 30 bucks worth of stuff for FREE. Sounds like a fantasy. Too good to be true, right? Well, guess again because that is EXACTLY what I did today many times over.

Have you ever heard of the retail concept of the “lost leader”.

Most people that do these coupon deals still spend money at CVS or Walgreens on other items. For example, two weeks ago I went into CVS with a $5 coupon for doing an online survey.
I then received another print out coupon for about $2.58(2% back for all purchases at CVS this past 3 months). I then purchased six 12 packs of diet Pepsi and received $10 cash back for buying them. My net cost for buying the Pepsi products was less than $1.00/12 pack. However, I still ended up buying shampoo and a birthday card.

The idea is to get you in the store. They break even or less on the Pepsi. They probably made 100% markup on the shampoo and made a 500% markup on the greeting card.

People ony brag about the stuff they got a deal on. Its human nature. Its like the gambler that only tells you about when they win.

Seems like a lot of work, and trying to figure out the “system.”

This guy is waaaaaay more into it than Mrs WBill and I are.

However, we spend maybe 15 minutes a week cutting coupons out of the Sunday paper. Checking flyers for the sales that we want to hit, and making a list before shopping is maybe another 15 minutes.

For that amount of effort, we get about 1-1/2 weeks of groceries, free, each month. To me, that's time well spent.

Annnnd, we get pretty much what we want. Not 6 bottles of Maalox. :-)

Need coupons for Viva paper towels. I’m pretty stocked up on most other paper stuff, but those go fast. And hubby doesn’t want any other brand.

Try the ecoupons for Kroger’s if you have one. They will also apply the manufacture’s coupon, they still double those in TN. It will let you up load a couple, then you have to sign out and resign in to load more. Hassle but worth it if the 2 coupons are right.

Got a bottle of Move Free $21.99 BOGO, $7.00 off coupon, plus the $1 ecoupon Tuesday. $13.99 for the 2. 2 BOGO Ester C, $1, ecoupon, $2.00 manufacture, $8.59 became $6.59 for 2.

Here is a heads up on the next deals before they hit the internet.

Right Guard Body wash will end up being .99 and there are coupons on the bottle for a one dollar.. Don’t expect those coupons to be on all Right Guards ..just the ones in the shippers. they might be..but don’t expect it.

Verapure hand sanitizer moisturizer will be free. It may or may not be a month long free promotion. My guess ..just one week. I have to find out who makes and see if I can find a coupon

Irish Spring Deodorant is coming up. I think the cost on that will be .99 . Don’t see any coupons yet. Have to search to see if they are coming.

If anyone wants to try the Gold Bond Body wash..it ends up being .99 this week if you can find a bottle with the coupon attached.

There is an Olay deal coming up that ends up being 3 for 7 but I have to work that out to see if there is any way to make it a good deal. Olay coupons are coming so there might be.

“If one is using so many $5 off coupons in one day, and if (like most) there is a limitation printed on said coupons, then one is theoretically (or at least morally) fraudulently using them.”

Most coupons do not have limitations on how many you can use in a day.. P&G has started putting a limitation on their coupons. 4 per visit. What constitutes a visit??? Do I need to hop in my car and come back? How about just putting my bags in the car and coming back? How about 1 hour and coming back. No definition of “visit”.

Some stores do limit you on how many items you can buy with coupons . It tends to be grocery stores that do it. Walgreens does not. A Store manager might.

Btw, one coupon per purchase means one per ITEM. You cannot use 5 coupons on one item. You can purchase 5 items with 5 coupons in a transaction unless it states one per transaction. Then you just do more than one transaction - which you have to do anyway with Walgreens RRs.

Walgreens system is the most difficult to work with as opposed to CVS and Rite Aid.

Here is a suggestion for you. If you don’t like coupons and deals then find you a thread that suits what you like.

I don’t know what’s more troubling, Peej...your obsession with getting lots of stuff FREE or compulsion with amassing the largest ping lists in FR history...

:^)

It’s not until next month . Your coupons might be expiring this month but more are coming in the insert next weekend. I will have to work this one out later this week. I have to get more details on what is included in the deal. I am pretty sure body wash is included...just dont know what else yet.
