Actually after I was topped in such a case I asked him about the rest of those drivers who were speeding, He said that they didnt stop.
I’ve gotten out of a lot of tickets after reading a book called “A Speeders Guide to Avoiding Tickets” written by an ex-NY State Trooper.
One in particular though, I was driving my Rig, by myself, which was unusual because the wife and I ran team most of the time, up around Toledo, OH on the interstate. Speed limit is still 55 mph (a stupid law, but another argument) for Tractor Trailers, and this guy got me for about 66 mph. He asks for log book, and medical card, and to come back to his car. seats me in the passenger seat, so far he’s a really nice guy, but I’m getting a ticket, there’s no way around it.
Just so happens, on my log book are several conservative stickers, a Bush campaign sticker, a Rush is Right sticker, and others. As soon as he grabs my log book to go through it, he asks me about the stickers.
Well I got a choice. If he’s a Lib, I’m cooked for sure, but I bet on my belief at the time that State Troopers are mostly Ex-Military, and by nature Conservative, so I laid it out for him. Litany of all the things we believe, and this was right after the Gore debacle, and I mention how close Gore came to stealing the election.
That was it, we sat in his car for 45 minutes after that talking politics, and when he got a call in that he had to respond to, he hands me back all of my stuff, gives me one of those raised eyebrow looks and says, “keep it under 65 in OH, and most of us won’t mess with you. We don’t like the law any more than you guys, and we’ll give you 10 but that’s all we can get away with.” He smiles real big and says “Keep fighting, and have good night”.
You better believe I shook his hand and said yes sir!
I know this sounds like one of those faked Lib stories they like to tell to prove that Libs run the world, but as God is my witness this is true, and Mrs. rikkir can vouch as I called her and told her the story the minute I pulled away.
No, no, no!
You forgot the rest of the story!
That was Boudreaux and Tibideaux. Boudreaux was the one whats drove through dat Stop sign and after the Deputy done “learned” him the diffrance between Stopping and Slowing Down, the Deputy walked around to the passenger side of the car.
He say, “Tibideaux, git outa dat car, I goin’ to grant you a wish!”
So Tibideaux, he gets outa de car and de Deputy starts hittin’ him on de haid wid his nightstick.
“What you doing? You said dat you wuz goin’ to grant me a wish?”
Deputy sez, “I just did! I know you, Tibideaux. You’d a got a quarter mile down de road and den’ you’d a told Boudreaux,
“I WISH he’d tried dat on ME!”
Where’s the Pontiac LeMans 4 door with the roof torn off lol
Dyn-o-mite lol
PS- JJ Walker’s a libertarian, you know that? Sounds like a TEA Partier when you hear him talk, and he’s long thought that way as an independent go getter and self made man
After supper out in the country, my husband gets stopped in a small town speed trap (he had slowed down, but that’s another story). Anyhoo, cop is a BIG boy with no apparent sense of humor. After he writes the ticket and comes back for DH to sign the thing ... I tell the nice policeman “I told my husband he should have given you his pilot’s license since he was flying”. He just looked at me and my husband cracked-up, because I hadn’t actually told him that but I was trying to lighten up the atmosphere. At least my DH thought it was funny.
One thing I know is Virginia and North Carlina has some of the harshest motor vehicle laws and then Connecticut comes in third !
Funny, never been stopped in the Southern states but been stopped in Utah, Colorado (home state), Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin over 25 years !
Funny thing, the state troopers I dealt with in Iowa and Wisconsin were the friendliest. Ohio, the cop wrote me but was friendly, Indiana was a mixed bag as well as Colorado. Utah, somewhat friendly but the occasion to be stopped was for license plate light out one time and tinted windows a different time but the troopers were doing some digging. Kansas and Missouri, they were business like. On Colorado being a mixed bag, one time got stopped in Breckenridge and driving my old truck, the trooper was not friendly but probably had to deal with rude tourists and the other time was in the Eastern Plains heading over to KS and he was friendly.
The roof doesn't come off until, what, Alabama? Much later in the movie, of course. ;-)
In the meantime, go ahead and enjoy a Diablo sandwich and a Dr. Pepper.
That’s good.
Those guys aren’t all bad, I grew up in northern Ohio myself.
But lost my license twice on speeding tickets alone... hard to have fun in your Formula Firebird in Ohio, I’ll tell you that... lotta cops lol
Sheriff Justice: “...Oh, ‘Scuse me sheriff, you sounded a lot *taller* on the radio...”
When I stopped people my mind was pretty much made up before I got out and ordered a drive out of his/her car.BTW seeing today’s cops stroll up to a driver’s window knowing nothing about who is sitting there and what he/she might do scares me to no end.
My favorite situation was always the guy who would say “You should be out arresting murderers rapists and robbers instead of giving out tickets!”
I always answered something like, “As it happens I WAS JUST going to arrest a murderer a rapist AND a robber BUT YOU just HAD to run this light right in front of me and stop me. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”
One you told me he wished my children would die.
I didn’t give out a lot of summons and I let more people off than I wrote up, but I loved tuning up the jerks.
