I never was a "birther." I always agreed with Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Michelle Malkin, etc. that the whole BC issue was a political tar baby.

I've also said that Obama had probably hidden his paper trail because he gamed the system, claiming status as a Muslim and dual Indonesian-American citizen to get all kinds of freebies, when he was growing up and getting his education. He dropped all of that after college when he embraced Marxist thought, which is necessarily atheist, and then joined Jeremiah Wright's black nationalist church to embark upon his political career.

That's what he's been hiding, and NOT where he was born.

Let's not forget that the WH says it had to request copies of the BC from Hawaii. I wouldn't have to request mine from anyplace. I have it in a draw upstairs here, right along with all my expired Passports.

(And Bamie said in Dreams from my Father that he had his BC. I guess he just decided to pitch it when he ran for office.)

The state sent the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and the campaign immediately posted it on the internet. This is the single point of your post that makes sense. If 0bama signed a release, they could disclose his records. They still couldn't disclose his mother's, unless he was her executor or designated person to authorize. It's a 50-50 chance that he was the executor vs. Maya.

And why do you think that Obama or his sister Maya are playing hardball when it comes to release of their mother's Kapiolani Hospital records?

Could the answer be a simple one: Kapiolani Hospital and Obama are playing hardball with Obama's mother's records because (1) there are NO Obama mother's records to begin with, and (2) because Obama's mother was never a patient there on Aug. 4, 1961, the day Obama claims as his birth date.

And since Obama's mother was never a patient there on Aug. 4,1961, then it follows that there are NO Obama birth hospital records for Aug. 4,1961 either.

And if there are no records of Obama being born there on Aug. 4, 1961, then it follows that Obama cannot request the release of records that don't exist.

It wasn't? Actually, the daddy-not-a-citizen fork of birtherism didn't surface until after the election, as far as I can tell. The earliest post on FR that I could find was this thread, posted on 11 December 2008.

Simply stated, the election of Obama is a precedent setting event regarding future US chief executives being foreign nationals.

If that is OK with you, fine, but I think the vast majority of Americans probably have a problem with it for many reasons.

Well, obviously they didn't on 4 November 2008. And he never kept the identity of his father secret (in fact, just the opposite!), so he can't be accused of fraud in that regard, either.
