A new study, conducted by a NASA "scientist," is making headlines as it claims we need to ease global warming before environmental extremist aliens attack and kill all of mankind to save the planet from the wrath of greenhouse gas emissions.
And here are a few examples of Friday morning's damning headlines: "Aliens Could Attack to End Global Warming, NASA Says”; “NASA Warns of Alien Attack Scenario”; and “Global Warming Could Prompt Alien Attack: NASA.”
To avoid these eco-conscious aliens from inflicting global apocalypse, the authors have a few recommendations:
"It would be particularly important for us to limit our emissions of greenhouse gases, since atmospheric composition can be observed from other planets. We acknowledge that the pursuit of emissions reductions and other ecological projects may have much stronger justifications than those that derive from [extraterrestrial intelligence] encounter, but that does not render ETI encounter scenarios insignificant or irrelevant."
In an online post, an employee of NASA's Planetary Science Division, Shawn Domagal-Goldman, emphasized that the report was not funded by NASA; however, he did address the possibility of an alien/global warming connection:
"One of the scenarios we considered in the review was the possibility that an alien civilization would contact us because they were concerned about the exponential growth of our civilization, as evidenced by climate change. This isn’t an entirely new idea; remember, this was a review effort. Indeed, Keanu Reaves recently played a similar alien in the movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” There were lots of other ideas we reviewed, but this was probably the most provocative."
I think what is most concerning is all the greenhouse gases emitted from the aliens' spaceships as they fly through the Earth's atmosphere - not to mention, all the energy they must use to operate their high-powered laser guns.
I am more afraid of a massive attack by wild tooth fairies and frenzied Easter bunnies!

This is what NASA has come to. I guess they have to do something to while away the days! Have to buy rides into space now, so their aint much to do at the ole Cape!
I happen to know that what the space aliens fear most are the gaseous emissions caused by the food that we eat. To keep them at bay we must ear more foods that cause flatulence. Lay into those beans and peas Freepers. We must keep these Martians at bay. And for heaven’s sake, protect your Slim Whitman recordings.

Surely this was someone’s idea of a joke. SC - Catastrophism? ;-)
How about they kill the idiots who believe that CO2, which constitutes only 0.038% of the earths atmosphere (which you can literally call zero point zero), could do absolutely anything when it comes to temperature? CO2 is responsible for the earths temp rise as much as Bush is responsible for Obama screwing up. But they believe that as well don’t they?
30 years ago, serious scientists thought this was a serious possibility. Today the thinking seems to have shifted. There may be alien civilizations out there some where, but they are probably extremely rare. We may be the only civilization in our galaxy.
Also, it may be that it is impossible to travel faster than light. That is what Einstein said. Since then there have been some other theories, but faster than light travel is really a device for science fiction and it very well may be impossible. The nearest star is only 4 light years away, but the nearest civilization may be many thousands of light years away, or if it is in another galaxy, millions of light years away.
I would bet big money at long odds that there is no alien contact in my life time.
