Netanyahu insists Obama just as much a friend of Israel as George W. Bush
The Daily Caller ^ | 9/25/11 | Jeff Poor

One of the critiques of President Barack Obama has been that he hasn’t been as strong an ally of Israel as his predecessors were, a concept trotted out by many of the 2012 Republican presidential candidates in various public statements.

But in an appearance on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” on NBC, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disagreed with that notion. He praised the American people and American lawmakers, including President Obama, for their support of Israel.

“I think the important thing to understand is this,” Netanyahu said. “And this is the truth about America — Israel enjoys tremendous bipartisan support, tremendous. And you just have to walk around the breadth and length of this country, you know — fly, it’s a big country. And everywhere you go, you see this tremendous, tremendous sympathy and affinity for Israel. This is what, is one of the great blessings that Israel has in the 21st century. And I think that bipartisan support is expressed by any person who happens to be the president of the United States, including President Obama.”

Netanyahu added that the same sentiment is held by Israelis about the United States.

“Every one of the U.S. presidents represent and acts on the tremendous innate friendship of the American people to Israel,” he continued. “And by the way, a piece of news, Israel is one country in which everyone is pro-American, opposition and coalition alike. And I represent the entire people of Israel who say thank you America and we are friends of America. And we are the only reliable allies of America in the Middle East.”

Bibi was just being diplomatic. Everyone knows how O’Bungle has treated Israel but some things are better left unsaid as those words will cause more harm than good.

He has to say that. But if he had a vote, I suspect he would vote for the Republican in the Presidential election.

I imagine the Obama regime made him some kind of offer he couldn’t refuse.

He didn’t say it...the headline is very misleading...left wing propaganda.

The question was admisistered like Net was in an interrogation room. Net was simply a gentleman. What's his face was a jerk. Bush totally understands.

We KNOW the relationship between Obama and Net sucks. Like I said, Net was being a gentleman.

Netanyahu best watch how much praise he gives to Zero, or he will be dealing with him another four years along with us.

It's called diplomacy. Peace in our time.

Of course. He HAS to respond that way.

Would you really expect the sitting PM to say "actually I think Obama's been a little b***h"

Um, no.

This is easy. Netanyahu is frightened that if he criticizes Obozo and Obozo wins re-election then Obozo will take revenge on Israel.

I’ve heard a lot of Freepers say they wish Netanyahu could be the next President of America.

Uh, uh. He is Prime Minister of Israel, and his duty is to do his best by Israel.

If that means lying diplomatically about the worst enemy Israel has ever had in the White House, and helping Obama smooth over his recent bad relations with American Jews, then so be it.

Obama would betray Israel in a heartbeat if he thought he could get away with it, but in the meantime, Netanyahu has no choice but to try and butter him up.

You’re right, he didn’t say it. Gregory was being an ass and tried to trap Bibi. Bibi did not insist BO was just as much a friend as GWB. He said BO was a friend as were the American People, but he did not say he was as much a friend as GWB. David Gregory is a big jerk.

Bibi says what he says because it is politic.

When his back was against the wall, Bibi did not play the game with Hussein.

Anyone who saw Bibi publicly lecture Hussein the chump about how the 1967 borders were unacceptable knows Bibi has Hussein’s number.

Don’t let these words discourage you...they are just friendly diplospeak. Hussein is not Israel’s friend, and Bibi knows it. He just cannot say it for the sake of politics.

Bibi answered the question ... (in a nutshell) .... Obama's support for Israel is only because he does not want to commit political suicide, he loathes Israel.

Bibi’s no fool. He still has to play the game until Obama is out of office, so that Obama does the least damage possible to Israel while still IN office. Obama still wields a great deal of power, and Bibi must neutralize Obama as much as possible until he is gone. Another reason why this next election is so important. We must get a Prez in office that is pro-Israel, 100 percent. That means any of our candidates with the exception of whacko Ron Paul.
