"Cain/Gingrich 2012"?
one man's opinion....

Posted on 10/05/2011 7:36:49 AM PDT by ken5050

Just tossing this out to see what others think...

As Cain's meteoric rise in the polls continues, overlooked is the equally surprising strength in Newt's numbers. Left for dead a few months ago, after a series of gaffes and miscues that made him a semi-laughingstock, Newt has reinvented his campaign, and has risen in the polls to about double-digit levels. He won't be the nominee, but can we talk about a Cain/Gingrich ticket? In many ways..it makes sense...a lot of sense.

Newt's had some stumbles, and has occasionally strayed off the conservative reservation

Stumbles? He said that Ryan's Budget Plan was right wing social engineering! LOL!

Not only is he extremely unpopular and personally amoral, but he's also opportunistic, unrealiable, and wacky. You can keep him.

It’s NOT a problem...Bush and Cheney were both from Texas..Cheney changed his address back to Wyoming. Newt could change his to DC...

Newt has been a resident of Virginia for several years.
President Cain’s ideas could be fast-tracked with Newt’s congressional experience, knowlege of and respect for the Constitution, & support for smaller government.
Sitting on a couch with Nancy Pelosi is not the same as sharing a bed with her.
Newt has been hammered by the MSM for decades and he’s still standing.
I admire how Cain and Newt are not swatting their opponents with personal attacks - even as the MSM will try more ‘gotchya’ interviews.

Could work for the US;) Obama/Biden is a known catastrophe.

I have also thought of this one. I hate Newt’s baggage, but who out there has none? Don’t really trust Romney or Perry. Cain is a sharp business guy and Gingrich has the knowledge of history and experience navigating government. They are a great combination. Unfortunately, I don’t think “the establishment” would go for such a duo.

You mean this one:

From Wiki:
In 2011, their daughter, Jackie Gingrich Cushman, said that it was her mother who requested the divorce, that it happened prior to the hospital stay (which was for the removal of a benign tumor, not cancer), and that Gingrich’s visit was for the purpose of bringing the couple’s children to see their mother, not to discuss the divorce.

As someone stated, they are both from GA. That means they can’t be on the same ticket as President and VP.

If Cain manages to do well, he should pick a VP candidate from swing state like Florida or Ohio.

Plenty of good candidates in FL. Don’t know much about Ohio.

BTW..the 12th amendment concern of both coming from the same state can easily be handled...Cheney changed his residence, and Newt could easily change his..

Newt did, a number of years ago. He lives in Virginia now. You should know that since you're promoting him for veep.

A “President Herman Cain” would do much better with a decent, conservative woman as his VP, IMHO.

Newt CANNOT be the VP.

That question at the debate where candidates were asked to play a “game” choosing only from the stage was the perfect opportunity for Cain to throw off speculators.... and he took it.

Even in follow-up.... Cain refers to Newt as “brilliant”... while only complimenting Romney’s hair.

But everyone should know that Newt cannot be on a Cain ticket. The constitution forbids it.

I also could support Cain/Gingrich. I think the ticket has some balance. The things I dislike about Gingrich would be diminished in a VP role.

Neither Cain nor Gingrich will ever be on a national GOP ticket in either slot. Very few people have the stature for national office. Cain and Gingrich don't even come close. They're a couple of guys who like to run their mouths. That's it. That's all. Guys like that don't win Republican nominations and the certainly don't get picked as running mates.

As someone else said: “Up the meds.”

Good ticket.
