EPA Attacks The GOP
The Silent Majority ^ | 10-27-11 | J.D. Longstreet

The Environmental Protection Agency has begun to feel our breath on their necks and they are lashing out. An article by Lisa P. Jackson entitled “Too Dirty too Fail — House Republicans’ assault on our environmental laws must be stopped.” appeared in the L. A. Times October 21st, 2011. In the article, the author says the following: “Since the beginning of this year, Republicans in the House have averaged roughly a vote every day the chamber has been in session to undermine the Environmental Protection Agency and our nation’s environmental laws. They have picked up the pace recently — just last week they voted to stop the EPA’s efforts to limit mercury and other hazardous pollutants from cement plants, boilers and incinerators — and it appears their campaign will continue for the foreseeable future.” (Ms. Jackson is the administrator of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.) To this I say: “Hallelujah!” If America is fortunate enough to actually have a Congress and White House controlled by Republicans, after next year’s election, one of its priorities should be the abolishment of the EPA.

The EPA is the “Vatican” of the pagan religion “Environmentalism.” In this century, and the last, so many have turned from the worship of a supreme being, we call God, to what we used to call “paganism”… the worship of nature, or the environment, or… more specifically… Environmentalism. Yes, Environmentalism HAS become a religion. Well, actually, it always was, it has just come back into favor in the past 100 years, or so. I do feel it is incumbent on the Republican Party to “put down” the EPA. After all, it was the administration of a Republican President, Richard Nixon, which established the Environmental Protection Agency in the first place.

So, then it shouldn’t matter if a Republican President DISBANDS the EPA!

Fairly unusual for someone in an agency to take on Congress like this.

If EPA funding is cut, there will be more rapes and murders!

Under Obama, these agencies consider themselves to be superior to congress. Remember 'we can't wait'? The end run around congress (and really the will of the American people) is Obama's mode of operation.

Seeings as how Congress controls how much money they get, it is exactly akin to ‘biting the hand that feeds you’.

I gotta side with Stossel on this issue. A correct application of government is to ensure that business and industry don't poison the environment because there is no real financial incentives for business not to.

Conservatives should be in favor of SENSIBLE environmental regulations that don't hamstring business or favor one industry over another.

I thought government bureaucrats weren’t allowed to lobby or make political statements. Perhaps I’m confusing what should be with what is.

Isn’t this unprecedented? A government agency espousing a political opinion? They are gone, when we win in 2012.

The EPA is complicit in a huge way in the dismantling of our economy and the destruction of the use of our God-given energy resources. They’re “part of the problem,” to quote an old lefty bit of propaganda, and they should be defunded and disbanded just as soon as we can accomplish the defunding.
