To my memory, Perry’s forgetfulness is the most devastating moment of any modern primary debate.

I wathced it live and it was pretty stunning. He got off topic to try and score a point with shutting down agencies like Paul...and he simply forgot...went on and on and on.

Paul gave hinm and out when he said , "I ave five," and Perry should have left it at that...but then as he kept trying to remember that moderator caught on to it and nailed him down and he coyuldn't remember.

Later, to his credit, he remembered energy and indicated that was the one...but the damage was done.

And, like others, to that point I felt it was one of his better performances.

I felt Cain really did himself well and the crowd itself was not going to let these moderators try and embarass him or split the candidates with any tak about the "allegations." Actuually, to me, that was equally stunning...they booed the moderators when they asked about it and roared when Cain explained it...again.

It’s BECAUSE of these debates that caused Perry’s numbers to tank and Cain’s to rise.

Perry would have been forgiven, if not for his “heartless” comment, after that, he was dead to me.

Most voters don’t make up their mind until a few weeks before election and most voters do not follow the candidates online.

Look Perry just can’t go the full distance in debates. So he goes for a good 5 or 6 innings, tires and then send in his relief debator.
Just send in his wife Anita in the closer role. Use the Clinton line—you get two for one if Perry wins the presidency. Voila...

My husband said he might have gotten past it if he said something like, "Dang, looks like need me of those teleprompters like the President has!"

Might have at least added a comic element.
