On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his companys website declaring that Carbonite had decided to withdraw advertising from Rush Limbaughs radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse:
Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.
However, it hasnt done much to contribute to his companys stock price. Since the market opened on Monday through its close today, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has plummeted nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points. It was also one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ on Tuesday.

I only paid $239 for a Fireproof, water-proof 2TB ioSafe.
I uninstalled mine as well and was happy to answer the survey at the end telling them why.
My initial backup was terribly slow due to my DSL line getting something like 350 kbps upload. But the Arq agent software is on the menubar and I can pause it any time I like. It is also activity-aware and gets out of the way if you use the web for other services.
There must be other front-end apps to S3 for PCs available as well.
I just received an email from Amazon yesterday informing me of price reductions up to 37% on their elastic computing ("EC") cloud services. It didn't sound like any immediate price reductions in S3.
“The Internet is a weak link in the Carbonite backup approach”

I agree that online backup is a lazy man’s way to protect his data.
I joined Carbonite, thank to Rush, as a stop gap until I
could devise an in house backup system that could be kept off site.
I am evaluating other ways to do a backup.
I am amazed at the amount of data that can be loaded on to
a simple USB key...I have several of them.
It would, however, be important to store them off site.
As I look at my situation, there is not much more then photos and a few legal and medical documents that I need to save.
My point, however, and very important is that any backup data must be in a secure location other then on site.
I once had a fire that destroyed EVERYTHING, but it was just prior to the internet and online revolution.
I was just getting my feet wet on a 8080 computer and mono monitor.
Good!
It’s KNOWINGLY.
I think I’ll buy some of that tea from Rush — I’m already a 24/7 subscriber.
GOOD!!!!
So, after a concerted effort by Media Matters, the Whitehouse, and the MSM to take out Limbaugh over Fluke, the result has been to damage the quisling sponsors. Sweet.
Just buy external backup drives and keep on a routine to update them. I run a desktop, a laptop (that stays with me) and three externals.
Microsoft has a really easy to use program called SyncToy that does a wonderful job of synchronizing my selected data files between computers and the externals, and it is free.

I wish FR would create a huge highlighted link at the web portal page to inform Freepers of companies that support liberal causes and liberal media. There are a lot more conservatives in this country than idiot liberals... let’s boycott them into oblivion.
Buy an external hard drive and back up your own data.
I agree.
It would be handy to have a list of companies and their political bent.
Guess I’m a bigot that way. I prefer to do business with people and companies that have the sense to support conservative principles and shun commie dictats. Same reason I won’t consider movies with Cruise, Sheen etc.
Kinda like Citco. With all the choices available, why buy Chavez fuel? I feel the same about GE, Berkshire, and GM.
The media got a big chuckle out of Romney when he said corporations are people. We all know that legally they are indeed viewed that way. But a corporation/company is very much a reflection of the people running the joint. Rotten leadership taints the whole.
i thought about that the very first time I heard one of their commercials...
Just buy external backup drives and keep on a routine to update them.

As I have posted many times...That is all fine as long as you do not suffer an act of God such as a fire, which I did, or theft.
You have NO backup unless it is off site.
“That’s it!” I now know that this disease that I have suffered for years is heredity, Opinionated Italian disease! LOL! Thanks svcw for my diagnosis, it is truly appreciated. Good news is no meds necessary cause there ain’t no cure.
