Vigorous’ Santorum crackdown may catch Internet porn viewers
The Daily Call ^

Posted on 03/15/2012 11:00:14 AM PDT by timlot

Internet pornography could conceivably become a thing of the past if Rick Santorum is elected president.

The unapologetic social conservative, currently in second place behind Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination, has promised to crack down on the distribution of pornography if elected.

Doesn't sound like it. The article discusses laws already on the books that could be used for enforcement by a censorious Santorum.

Went morally bankrupt some decades ago.

It would make me vote for him.

I have grandchildren that access the web. I’ve seen them accidentally bring up xxx pr0n. Think about what that says for the entire nation.

Imagine a generation of adult Americans exposed to this stuff when they were under 8?

Thing is, though we live in a free society, it is not anarchy. It even has some socialistic aspects because pure anarchy is not doable. We at least cover Playboys in grocery stores.

I’d be happy to see us come up with a system where you have to PROVE you are over 18 before you can get at that sort of material. Sure, it would be a hassle, but the cause is worth it. The alternative is not acceptable. Frankly, it may already be too late.

And if this kills Santorum, it is not his responsibility. Rather, it is the responsibility of the electorate. In a democracy you get not only the government you want, but the government you deserve. It will be the electorate that killed the US.

The nation can be saved, but trying to use morality lessons, when the patient is close to death on the operating table is probably not the best way to do it.

Christianity + state sponsorship = inquisitions.

Or do you forget your history?

How utterly absurd is this? Santorum needs to STFU fast about this.

Yes, of course.

Imagine all the good freely available internet porn has done for the nation.

Exactly. We trade one nanny state for another. Two sides of one rotten coin.

Correct. And this will become the focus, not the economic travesties of the current administration. I like Rick but he comes off as a zealot.

As usual, Rick has his finger on the pulse of the country.

For the great majority of us, internet porn is the single hot button issue in America and the world today.;-)

And after he rids us of internet porn, he should take up the cause of adolescent masturbation. Our country's young men are going blind. Only Rick can save us.

The United States of America is all past tense to me now.

This is what happens when graces are removed.

Paganism + secularism = Decline of Empire

Statement from Rick Santorum.com. Please tell me what dastardly plan Rick has come up with to deprive you of your adult materials other than ENFORCING the laws ALREADY on the books?

What’s next? You going to criticize him when he wants to enforce DOMA, which Eric Holder and Obama actively ignore?

“”””America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography. A wealth of research is now available demonstrating that pornography causes profound brain changes in both children and adults, resulting in widespread negative consequences. Addiction to pornography is now common for adults and even for some children. The average age of first exposure to hard-core, Internet pornography is now 11. Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking.

Every family must now be concerned about the harm from pornography. As a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal obscene pornography and its profound effects on our culture.

For many decades, the American public has actively petitioned the United States Congress for laws prohibiting distribution of hard-core adult pornography.

Congress has responded. Current federal “obscenity” laws prohibit distribution of hardcore (obscene) pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier. Rick Santorum believes that federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced. “If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so.”

The Obama Administration has turned a blind eye to those who wish to preserve our culture from the scourge of pornography and has refused to enforce obscenity laws. While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum Administration.

I proudly support the efforts of the War on Illegal Pornography Coalition that has tirelessly fought to get federal obscenity laws enforced. That coalition is composed of 120 national, state, and local groups, including Morality in Media, Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, American Family Association, Cornerstone Family Council of New Hampshire, Pennsylvania Family Institute, Concerned Women for America, The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, and a host of other groups. Together we will prevail.”””

We are $14 trillion dollars in the hole, with billions being added to that all the time.

Get that down to zero, then the president can worry about internetitties.

He will scare everybody and that’s the problem. The liberal media will make him look like a pope and anybody, who cares about freedom, will either not vote or will vote Democratic, even if it’s lead by Obama.

If so then this demonstrates the nation is beyond saving. Libertine being substituted for liberty is a real clue. Seems the nation in its laudable form lasted about 200 years.

When did self righteousness become a suitable substitute for brains and relevance? This is not the President's JOB!!!! I don't need the President teaching me morality, but apparently the Santoites are so weak in themselves they do need it.

Is it really that hard to find a “conservative” who thinks the gov’t should stay our of your wallet and out of your home? What a choice for this year. A RINO who thinks it’s okay for the gov’t to force you to buy a product and a reincarnation of the SNL Church Lady who wants to tell me that I can’t gamble or watch porn online. There is Ron Paul if he was not such a crackpot. His son seems much more POTUS material.

I was trying to help them find something with google.

Needless to say, I turned “safe search” on immediately, but anyone can turn it off.

Don't forget he wants Puerto Rico to SPEAK ENGLISH for their own good.

This guy is going to LOOSE big time in the general election, he must know already that the only reason he is leading Newt is because of crossover Dems.

Well Rick, the dems want YOU for a reason.
