The battle for the survival of the Catholic Church in America is heating up and the faculty at the formerly Catholic University of Notre Dame has lined up on the side of those who would keep Roman Catholic Bishops from teaching Church doctrine.
On April 14, Daniel Jenky the Catholic Bishop of Peoria Illinois delivered a homily that has stirred the resentment of Americans for Separation of Church and State, (ASCS) a rabidly leftist group who would extinguish 1st Amendment freedom of speech rights for Catholic priests.
Not content to merely complain about Bishop Jenky’s comparison of Barack Obama Hitler and Stalin, ASCS has asked the Internal Revenue Service to take away the Diocese Peoria’s tax exempt status.
Speaking in his own church, Bishop Jenky said, “Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care. In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama – with his radical, pro-abortion and extreme secularist agenda, now seems intent on following a similar path…. This fall, every practicing Catholic must vote, and must vote their Catholic consciences, or by the following fall our Catholic schools, our Catholic hospitals, our Catholic Newman Centers, all our public ministries — only excepting our church buildings – could easily be shut down.”
“…blunt truths would infuriate those in the ASCS is a given because by definition the American Left hates our Constitution for the individual freedoms it provides. Nevertheless, what happened next underscores the very sad state of affairs at the once Catholic University of Notre Dame.
“..fifty five faculty members have signed a letter asking the school’s president Father John Jenkins (who gave Obama an honorary Law degree ..….. priests arrested)...

Their Nail in the coffin came with the Honorary Degree issued to Obama while he was “INVITED” to speak at Notre Dame.
Notre Dame, in English means OUR LADY in honor of the Mother of God, Kinda sad isn’t it.

Nothing would sober up the “social justice” priests and bishops faster.
And THAT is when my family stopped going to a Catholic Church. Also, the idiot archbishops jumped on board the Obama Express because of the government freebies offered by Obamacare. And now, lo and behold, they’ve discovered Obama actually LIED to them about its provisions. Imagine that.
The Bishops did this to themselves when they allowed father Jenkins to prosecute a Catholic Priest for praying at Notre Dame.
They should have fired Jenkins on the spot and run Oabma away from there like his pants were on fire.
But no: they copied the Republicans in the Congress and stood there with pee running down their legs and thinking it was raining.
My reply to the last three comments:

Answer: The problem with that is the ONLY priests who would NOT have IRS problems would be the “social justice” priests. Not a good idea.

Answer:If that drove you away from the Catholic Church THEY and YOU lose. That’s just what they want to hear.

Answer: The Catholic Bishops have no power whatsoever to “fire” Father Jenkins or MAKE him end the prosecutions. The way to respond to this is to not let it die.
