It’s a trick I learned from an old school a outside sales guy. We’d walk in to a building with those “No Soliciting” signs with a clipboard, hard hats, and some home made laminated ID cards hanging on our necks.
I’ve added those blister pack two way radios to the ensemble, which we actually used when we were putting in our range markers. So there we were a couple of neighborhood friends looking all official like staking out range markers along the major four lane, railroad tracks, etc.
A couple of cops drove past while we were about our task but none of them even slowed down, let alone stopped to ask what we were doing. Camouflage ain’t always a set of BDU’s or a ghillie suit my friend.

Maybe that was because of threatened protests or violence. I don't know.
Chicago was the site of the famed Haymarket bombing in 1886 and the execution of the anarchists who were convicted.
"Anarchist" has such an old fashioned sound to it that it's hard to believe it would be very trendy, but I don't suppose today's anarchists really know much history.
A clipboard and business suit can do wonders.

Or it could be that their teachers are not teaching the proper definitions of ANY of these words anymore... The men at Haymarket weren’t anarchists - they were socialists.
They use the “anarchist” label to hide their real agenda. Look up Anarcho-Syndicalism, remember Michelle’s Red & black dress and the flag of Anarcho-Syndicalists.
There are so many fractured and splintered “versions” of these groups it’s frightening. Each time someone *ruins* a word they just pick another... (You wouldn’t believe the definition I found on some English Professor’s website for both Capitalism, Communism, and Socialism. I wrote to him and told him “thank you” as I hadn’t realized why the kids in my sister’s generation and younger couldn’t understand what I was saying about Communism and Socialism because their TEACHERS are (purposefully) using the WRONG definitions to make us who know the truth look like lunatics.)

Amen, Lurker... I know many friends and family in the ‘burbs that feel the same. So if it helps, you are definitely not alone. However, be warned that even back in late 80s/early 90s the gangs were creeping into even the “richest” suburbs, and I hear it’s gotten worse from those who are actually among the ones who SEE it all around them. I haven’t lived there since the late 90s so I don’t know what areas they’ve been driven out of or taken over since I left - at all. I know some areas as far out as Prospect Heights, and Mt. Prospect that if the SHTF will NOT be safe (but most who live there know which areas these are already - it’s not a *new* threat).
Sounds like this is way more serious than anything I ever heard of or witnessed growing up there (and I remember the late 70s). I remember the crackdowns on gangs in the city, etc... I think Rahm et al. have created a perfect storm in Chicago now, and they really don’t care exactly how it turns out as long as there are a lot of people suffering, and they can then use the footage to even further provoke MORE violence and suffering.
Anyway, praying for all of you down there - family, friends, and a couple of Chicago’s Finest as well (btw - the cops HATE Emmanuel and last year there was talk about how the changes he has made would make a situation like this 1,000 times worse).
I’ll see if I can’t find them again. I was looking up word usage and came across an *extra* few pages on his site regarding communism and *European Socialism*. I will definitely ping you when/if I find the link which I will look for now. :)

I’m guessing I may still have a copy of our email correspondence, but that would take me a while to dig out. I might go to the WBM and see if they have an old copy of the site first.
Looking into it a little more it does look like the leaders and those put on trial had socialist backgrounds and had been members of the Socialist Labor Party.
Apparently there was a slump in SLP membership and much discontent in the ranks, so activists looked to smaller groups and anarchist-inspired ideas of direct action, whatever their ultimate vision was.
I don't know if those accused and convicted were really anarchists or if they were called anarchists because that was what people feared most at the time or because socialists distanced themselves from those who were put on trial.
I'm wondering if perhaps "anarchist" was just a way of saying "violent radical socialist" or "violent socialist radical" in those days.

My wife and I have been Neighborhood Watch Captains for the last 8 or 9 years. (Guess that makes us racists somehow). Over that time thanks to a lot of hard work by our neighbors we’ve managed to come up with ways to run the Goblins out pretty quick.
Our little corner of the world isn’t perfect by any means, but the zombies can’t get a foot hold here. So when the S finally does hit the F we have the means and the planning to make all but the most determined decide that there are easier pickings elsewhere. That’s about all we can do.
By the end of September of that year, my parents packed us up and moved us 300 miles north. Being close enough to see the smoke was enough for them to abandon their lifelong hometown and GTFO!
I don't know who Marshal is or what his law would look like, but I think most 'round here fear martial law.
But if Marshal's the bad guy, I'll your word for it - never met him myself.
