Will Hillary’s Leap Under the Bus Be Enough?

In a last desperate attempt to save Barack Obama’s hopes of re-election, Hillary Clinton took a leaf from Charles Dickens’ Sydney Carton, and did the “far, far better thing,” taking responsibility for the failure to provide security for the consulate in Benghazi and for the long series of misstatements, fabrications, and falsehoods describing the carefully-planned terrorist attack calculatedly timed to occur on 9/11 as a spontaneous mob outburst provoked by an obscure video.

Hillary Clinton, of course, does not fully resemble Sydney Carton. She is not going to the guillotine. She is only “accepting responsibility,” which in the manner of liberal democrats amounts only to issuing a statement tacitly eating crow on a single occasion. It does not mean resigning from office, ending one’s political career, or otherwise actually being subject to any real penalty or punishment.

THe discussion merely moves from “Did Obama cover things up”, to “Why is the president clueless about his own foreign policy”?

That’s a great game to play. Why did the president need 3 days to study his own foreign policy so he could discuss it at a debate?

Why didn’t the President or the Vice President have a clue about what happened in the terror attack on our consulate? How could they possibly have prepared a military response contingency (standard for a terror attack) if they had no idea there was a terror component for 3 weeks?

I have to say, nothing about this Obama-Clintons relationship has gone as I expected.

I never expected her to take a spot in his Admin. I never expected her to serve all the way to election 2012. And now, I never expected her to go this far in taking the heat off him. I keep thinking I am missing a bigger game, but what is it?

The only thing I can think of is they hope for an Obama re-election, and Hillary gets the spot Biden/Cheney couldn’t take (the VP running for Prez). But even the Clintons know Obama may be toast, and she won’t stay Sec of State for the whole time...maybe she planned to serve till 2014 and then prep for 2016?

Or..maybe what REALLY happened is such a mess this would make sense only if we were on the inside?

Clinton is taking responsibility for nothing more than showing up for work. Mid level bureaucrats will take the blame. She is not 'falling on' any 'sword'. Please, let's not take the spin so seriously. The most important aspect of all this is that she actually said that obama knows nothing. It aint his job. Well what the hell is his job then? He was hired to do something, but I guess his own responsibilities have not been satisfactorily explained to him.
