Scotland's wind farm footprint:
"The August 2012 version of the map is available below. We have changed the format of the map this year as the labelling was getting too difficult on a single page. The new format splits Scotland in to 4 sections and provides a more detail map for each, with a numbered key for the wind farms. The first page still provides the national overview, minus the names of the wind farms......" Source

Monuments to pure stupidity. Windmills would devastate our tourism industry in Michigan.
Proposal 3 would require that the state add as many as 13 times more wind turbines in Michigan than currently operate. Proposal 3 would mandate that 25 percent of Michigans energy come from renewable sources. Wind is expected to be the primary supplier of renewable energy if the proposal passes.
Advocates and experts predict 2,300 to 3,790 nearly 500-feet high wind turbines would have to be added to meet the 25-percent mandate. Michigan currently has 292 wind turbines in operation.
Most of Michigan is 'Poor' or 'Marginal' For Wing Energy

Why would the Scots be interested in wind energy anyway? There is no profit and the gusts blow their kilts up to expose their hairy naked bums adding, if nothing else, to the national nausea..

The environmentalists don’t see what eyesores these giant windmills are, covering acres and acres of once beautiful land, yet can’t see the hypocritical stance they take to prevent a few oil rigs in ANWR because they claim it will destroy the pristine environment. A place thousands of miles from where 99% of the human population will never be able to get to.

An oil rig stands for a few months, windmills are forever.

The dirty secret is that you can build 10,000 windmills next to a large city and you cannot shut down a single power plant! The plants must all remain running for when there are lulls in the wind.

Windmills are not only next to useless in reliably generating electricity, they are a blight on any landscape. I have seen in southwestern Minnesota virtual forests of these 300 foot monstrosities that extend literally from horizon to horizon. Often as not you drive by and see only a few if any turning in the wind... billions of dollars invested in electric power generation that depends on fickle winds is pure folly.

Thanks Cincinatus' Wife.
Scottish National Party... leader Alex Salmond will no doubt be crowing... about his success in transforming Scotland into the "Saudi Arabia of renewables"... What he has actually done is transform Scotland into the Saudi Arabia of tourism, which is to say he has turned a once-beautiful country into a vast, inhospitable desert which no one in their right mind would want to visit.

I have been to this part of Scotland many years ago. It is truly magnificent, or was anyway.

There is already an entire windfarm in Hawaii which has simply been abandoned.
To: hinckley buzzard
perhaps we should start a thread montage of abandoned windfarms.

***The environmentalists dont see what eyesores these giant windmills are,****
Forty five years ago enviros were crying that power poles were ruining the view of many places. Now they demand windmills.
