Why Mitt is looking better and better in Ohio

Friday’s Fox News poll of Ohio shows Obama leading 46/43 which is a 4 point improvement for Mitt Romney over Fox’s last poll of a month ago.

The good news for Obama stops after the headline. This leaves 11 points of “undecided” voters. History tells us 80% or 8.8 points will eventually go to the challenger giving Romney 51.8%

Fox reports Obama getting 89% of Democrats but Romney getting 85% of Republicans.

This is a very curious finding given the 92% of Republican support for Romney found in the battleground Poll which also finds Obama with 88% of Democrat support nationally.

Moreover just next door in Wisconsin Republicans are backing Romney at 92%.

It should be noted that Rasmussen reported the national Party breakdown as 36.8% Republican, 34.2% Democrat and 29% Independent.

It is important to note a report prepared by Pew and released earlier this year flatly accuses Democrats of lying about their Party affiliation. While Pew says most lying Democrats say they are Independents, the 24 point lead (52/28) Romney has among Ohio’s Independents suggests that any Democrat organized lying campaign might have been adjusted to under sample Republicans.

In 2008 Independents were 30% of the electorate in Ohio and they supported Obama 52/44. This is the same 16 point lead Romney lead with Independents… [been]… in every poll for the past 6 weeks.

The Party breakdown …skewed from reality toward liberal daydreams.

Fox used a 42/34/20 Democrat/Republican/Independent spread. In 2008 it was 39/31/30. Even accepting the 3 point increase in Republicans; the 3 point increase in Democrats and the 5 point decrease of Independents skews the results toward Obama.

“…absentee ballots in Ohio have shown a stronger enthusiasm among Republicans than Democrats. The unanimously accepted 8 to 16 point enthusiasm edge Republicans…

Each of us here are now in the most crucial time ever. For our founding fathers, for the generations yet to come , we must save freedom. Our founding fathers gave it all to us , all that we have : can we keep the faith? The stakes couldn’t be higher . It is up to us to stop evil( obama and socialism). The forces of evil (Obama and democrats) are closing in on their goal of destroying America and freedom .
With the help of the media Obama will pull a Chavez on America and enslave us. Let those that come us after say about us that we in our time we did all we could to keep them free.

No I’m not asking you to walk 20 miles per day over frozen ground to face in battle the greatest
power in the world as our founding Fathers did in the revolutionary war. I’m asking you to do all that you can from this moment forward to the election( calls for, donations to Romney etc).

Our forefathers put up with less tyranny than Obama is piling on us . Our forefathers went to war , walking miles in bare bloody feet on frozen ground, to risk death for freedom. We could make a few calls now.Go to Romney’s site and volunteer to call people in Ohio and other swing states. Doesn’t cost us anything to save America, freedom , and our way of life. The time is now.

Obama is killing coal , oil, etc. and private companies. Just if we allowed the private sector to develop the U.S.’s unlimited coal, oil, natural gas, oil shale etc. just if the government and EPA got out of the way , energy would be the cheapest in the world for U.S. companies who could then outcompete China and other countries.

This POS Obama has closed 204 coal plants,
and done millions of other crimes,
piled on 11,000 new pages of federal regulations on business, and 13,000 pages more government regulations from obamacare coming,
did many unlawful executive orders,
6 trillion $ in new Obama federal debt etc.

you Obama get out of the United States you criminal, marxist, muslim socialist Obama.

Would like to see Ohio insurance by winning IA, WI and CO. I think Obama has something cooked in Ohio.

Exactly. Once these polls are rebalanced, they generally show Romney with a 3-4% lead in Ohio. I think we’re taking OH back, as well as NH and CO, plus FL, NC, IN, and VA.

I am not one to dismiss polls just because they tell me something I do not want to hear. But I am one to give certain polls more weight than others. Given that, Fox News Polls (for whatever reason) are worth garbage. Not sure why they are always so innacurate but they are.

I am in the blue part of Ohio... Ohio scares me. There are a lot of stupid/uninformed voters in this part of Ohio.

R will win Ohio. It’s not as close as they are making it appear.

Agree with you there. One difference though...In 2008 those stupid voters were practically setting up tents outside of polling stations to make sure they voted. I just don't see near the enthusiasm today that we saw in '08.

I predict the "stupid voting block" turnout will be much lower this time.

Moreover just next door in Wisconsin Republicans are backing Romney at 92%.

Just for the record, let me, an Ohioan, take issue with the line above. Wisconsin is not "just next door". Ohio is bordered by MI & Lake Erie on the north, IN on the west, PA/WV on the east and KY/WV on the south.

One has to drive through Indiana and then Illinois to get to Wisconsin. I suppose one could go into either Indiana or Michigan and take a ferry across Lake Michigan.

Either way "next door" isn't quite right.

What is right is that they're both "rust belt" and "great lakes" states with a lot in common, except that Wisconsin has a good pro football team.

I dont doubt it! There is definately something wrong in NC when there are thousands of registered “voters” over the age of 112...

2010 2010 2010 2010

...c’mon people Ohio flushed out a lot of the state dem crap during that election. As far as Ohioans wanting handouts etc, one of the big issues in ‘10 was the 450 million stimulus money that Obama was going to give Ohio for a train linking Cleveland, Cincy, Columbus. Kasich made it clear he would say no thanks. Strictland called Kasich crazy and said it was giving away jobs etc etc.

Kasich won. The 2010 dem clean up is NOT finished in Ohio.

Ohio is right next door to Wisconsin?

I'm going to have to find a new road atlas--mine is obviously defective.

Forget Ohio, POennsylvania is going to go Romney. I can’t believe the number of signs I am seeing in the democrat strongholds. I think these undecideds are actually democrats. They have to swallow their pride.

Ohio, Iowa. Both states in flyover country with too many vowels.

I am in southern, conservative Ohio, and in one of the most reliably conservative counties. I’m too many obama/biden signs for me to be comfortable.

Ohio will be won by ground game. I see it very close, and I simply don’t buy the potion being sold by the rosy-glasses people who refuse to hear anything that remotely upsets them.

Rasmussen is right about Ohio, and the undecideds will break Romney’s way, but there aren’t that big a percentage of them. Therefore, it comes down to ground game.
