Math-Challenged Silly People Voting Libertarian Cost GOP Victory in At Least 9 Congressional Races
Reaganite Republican ^ | 16 November 2012 | Reaganite Republican

The good news comes via instapundit:

PEOPLE WILL LOVE THIS: Libertarians provided the margin for Democrats in at least nine elections. It’s particularly sad that libertarians didn’t back Mia Love. Really, you’re not going to vote for a candidate whose favorite economist is Bastiat? Apparently not.

So thanks Paulbot idiots- it all went-down just like we told you it was going to.

Any independent or Libertarian candidate running on the right is as much an enemy to American conservatives as are the progs: in our two-party system these people have zero chance of achieving real power or accomplishing anything meaningful, and are about as relevant as the Whig Party.

That is, unless you count 'handing elections to Democrats', where they get to throw a tantrum, be heard, and do damage to conservatives- why does anybody think Ron and Rand Paul ran as Republicans? Because they want to WIN and take power, not sit at home dreaming about it- that's why

There are a lot of posters here on FR who have said for years, "You libertarians?? You are stoner hippie atheist scum. Not real conservatives, and not wanted here. Get gone today, and don't let the door hit you in the ass.".

Well, they got exactly what they wished for last week. Hope they're happy!!

The War on Drugs must end. There is no Constitutional authority to fight it and it has done more damage than good for our Republic. While I want welfare ended as well, in the interim welfare recipients should be drug tested and denied those benefits if they pop positive.

Abortion. Over turn Roe and allow the States to punish it as Murder. Again, it isn't in the Constitution and the judicial activism needs to be redressed and ended.

Gay marriage. Why is government licensing marriage to being with? Yes, we've gone over the "to ensure breeding pairs/stability" arguments. In the end, it boils down to a Religious thing. Because some folks wanted a religious ceremony codified in law by the State, you opened us up to perversion of those religious practices by the Gays. Give the entire issue back to the various Faiths and leave it there. No more government "forcing" gay marriage down any religions throats.

My main issues are the size/scope of government, enforcement of the Bill of Rights via Art6 Para2 and the 14th, States "rights" via the 10th, and restoring our economy to its free-er market roots.

None of which Willard even bothered to talk about, and yet I voted for him as a protest against Obama. Fat lot of good it did me...

I’ll bite. I’m assuming you are a conservative, so can you explain to me where you find the powers in the constitution for the federal government to perform the following actions.

1. Tell me what substances I can/cannot ingest.
2. Tell me with whom I can/cannot enter a legally binding contract (marriage)

Since I know you can’t. I’ll direct you to Federalist #45.

No party owns my vote. I am not a Republican. I will vote for whoever best matches my political beliefs.

[...] GOP wants my vote, they need to earn it and quit running moderates and liberals.

Bingo. PALIN WARNED THE GOP THAT IGNORING THE RON PAUL PEOPLE WOULD SPELL DOOM!

Only in the mind of the truly beaten wives’ club is someone like W, Rove, Romney, Hannity, et al considered “True Conservatives” and people like Ron Paul cast aside w his millions of followers.

All they had to do w throw a small bone to the Ron Paul people like repudiate the NDAA, say they would oppose Bernake or put someone like Paul at Treasury, and they would have shown up in droves.

But nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo - lets continue the same old rove, w, RINO, milqetoast, mamby pampy nonsense and piss off as many people as we can.

When Christie Cream or some other dope gets the nod in 2016 - these same people will convince themselves how great he is while tossing even more aside and then blame “voter fraud” or some other nonsense for the loss.

P.S. Some of the most conservative people out there, the Evangelists, couldn’t even vote for Romney.

I hated Romney for being the extreme left-winger from Taxxachusetts, however, given what Obama was no doubt going to do to this country and immediately has started doing, I voted Romney. I took a long hot shower afterwards but a friend of mine put it this way: Romney is like the boiler room guys on the Titanic; the ship was going down no matter what but they kept the lights on long enough for people to get off the ship. I saw Romney as pro-business and would keep the economy running long enough for me to execute my exit strategy. However, many others didn’t need or see that in Romney and saw him for what he really was and didn’t vote for him.

I genuinely, honestly allowed myself to be gulled into believing -- after the humiliating (and wholly avoidable) electoral @ss-thumping of 2008, re: their failed, suicidal McCain Gambit -- that even the dimmest, most politically clueless GOP-e or CINO would be able to learn from brute experience, if nothing else, and avoid pursuing the exact same loser strategy all over again, four scant years later.

I mean: even the lowly Planarian worm can be taught how to successfully negotiate a simple maze, after all.

Clearly, I overestimated them.

A whole LOT. ;)

The problem is that many of those in the beaten wives’ club dont realize how ridiculous we all come across the average idiot voter trying to defend the likes of boehner, romney, mcconnell, etc.

Perhaps they voted Libertarian because....they're libertarian?

They don't owe anyone their vote, let alone a party that nominates someone like Mitt Romney & laughably tries to paint him as "conservative".

What's next? THOSE DEMOCRATS DIDN'T VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICAN & COST HIM THE RACE!!!!

Well, duh.

To the extent that libertarians are Republicans who smoke pot (which accounts for at least 1/4 of the libertarian vote) they might have been won over by as small a concession as endorsing legalization of medical marijuana.

Libertarians are divided on abortion, though you wouldn’t know it reading the think tank libertarians, so dropping the Republican prolife plank would lose as many libertarians as it would gain. The biggest libertarian website is prolife.

It’s ridiculous to blame Romney’s defeat on libertarians. While it’s true Johnson did better than any Libertarian Party candidate since Ed Clark his votes did not account for the margin of defeat in any swing state.

BWAha...you almost cost me a keyboard.

Exactly spot on.

It went from NEVER Mitt, then well OK to the typical ‘It’s the end of the world’ or my personal favorite ‘Your voting FOR O’

Those of us who stand on principles were asked to cast them aside to usher in the RINO messiah.

And they have the balls to criticize the Dem plantation when they wanted to keep the GOP version running full tilt.

Had Romney not agreed w the NDAA alone he would have gotten a lot of RP people.

I can’t tell you how people i know saw that one issue as evidence of both parties being the same.

How any Repub can endorse that notion is besides me.
