Waco massacre over a barrel that was one inch longer than legal.

That was Ruby Ridge.

The Branch Davidians owned a couple of auto-sears for their AR15s for which they hadn't purchased the $200 tax stamp.

The ATF assaulted Mount Carmel over a $200 tax issue.

I have a few observations after 29 years in and around the military.
1. Admirals, Generals, most 0-6s, and about half of 0-5s are political creatures that think of their own promotion first. The ones that will not step in line will be removed quickly with ones that will. Sadly, I've never met an academy graduate that was a strong constitutionalist.

2. The junior officers and senior enlisted are 80% extremely conservative.

3. The enlisted force is a mixed bag. I'd say 60% conservative, becoming more and more conservative as you approach the pointy end of the spear.

I used to think that there was no way that the U.S. military would fire on U.S. civilians, but there are several factors that I think could bring that on.

1. Propaganda. If they are told that they are dealing with blood thirsty, treasonous, baby rapists, then they will be more inclined to kill them.

2. Response to false flags. If they are fired on while responding to “an incident”, it won't matter who is firing or from where, they will feel natural pressure to respond to who is around them.

3. Poorly trained troops.

I don't think so much of what would happen if our current front line troops were ordered to shoot, as what could happen in the future if someone wanted to push the military in this direction.

This.

Concur. From someone who has also been in and around the military for 30+ years.

I have stepped up my “dry fire” practice sessions and reduced my range time.

“trained DHS”??

Isn’t that like “trained TSA”.

I’m not too worried about a bunch of folks who only last week learned which end of the weapon the bullets came from.

They will run at the first loud noise.

You are completely wrong. The bulk of the military will be with us and those few obama dissenters will be dealt with. Amazing how many here on these forums have so little faith in the intelligence and patriotism of our troops and even their leadership up to at least colonel. Makes me wonder who it was who was really worthy of defending out there during my career. You also have a large multitude of us out here who still take our oaths to defend the Constitution very seriously.

It’s DHS you’ll have to worry about, until our military puts them down and it will be quickly.

In the law enforcement community there are many young vets that envisioned themselves as some kind of war hero but ended up in motor pool. When they get out they go in to law enforcement and overnight they transform themselves into specops operators. Your narcotics and swat team are full of these. These Obummer can depend on.

The person who I answered gave no indication he was a new shooter. We all like to go blast a few hundred rounds down range just for the enjoyment of the shot.
If ammo is going to be a problem, then I believe we should give that enjoyment a rest.

If a person is not proficient, then you are correct and sufficient range time is necessary to get to be able to handle the weapon safely and efficiently and to put them all in the black at 50 yards.

I was firing 500 to 1,000 rounds a week until I was introduced to the methods expounded in the book I mentioned, and I found I could cut my practice rounds expended in half AND improve my scores in matches using them.

A shooter who is proficient today will not lose that much of an edge (excluding long range work) by laying off and saving resources for as long as this thing takes to conclude.

Your contention is dead on target.

There has been a lot of comparing us to Europeans, English and even Russians that gave up their right to bear arms and succumbed to big government and tyrants. The majority of America is made up of a different type of person, one that still has that “pioneer” sprit. Fifty years from now the picture will be the same and nobama will be a faded bad memory no different than that progressive kook Woodrow Wilson.

A great deal can and will change over time, but in more than 300+ years our pioneer spirit has not faded away, its just as likely conservatives will regain control as the pendlum swings back from the left.

Thanks, for your response. I’ve learned that every shooter, is a new shooter. Day in, day out. All the best, to ya.

You might want to read about mental practice before deciding when and how it is to be used. Many athletes use visualization. It’s useful in athletics and many other situations.

Its not just shooting. In fact, I don’t think its even primarily shooting. Its mainly about being mentally prepared to act.

Who would you rather have covering your back, the champion skeet shooter that has never considered actually shooting someone, or someone that shoots 100 rounds a year, but will have no hesitation in pulling the trigger?

Shooting thousands of rounds a week is great fun, but not realistic for most people. It is also of diminishing value. Being a good shot doesn’t make a person a great hunter or fighter. Its just one part of the equation.

A level-head and a willingness to pull the trigger are generally credited as the primary elements in winning a gunfight.

How many military would actually be involved in gun grabbing? Considering that most military only see a weapon once in a blue moon. The average military member is not trained in kicking down doors on a daily basis.

Most likely any type of mass door to door would involve unarmed troops. Joe Soldier would ask if you had guns and if you said no he would check off your address and move to the next house. The military simply don’t have the numbers to do any mass door to door assaults.

Soldiers can be very incompetent about following orders.

I think the bigger threat is law enforcement because they do kick down doors for a living and are all armed.

These are the ones that I am referring to. You nailed in on your comment. These are the ones that if you drag out of the office or urban training environment lets say into a woodlands/mountains or even plains these people would drop like flys.

It would be hog feeding time....

Maybe I’m alone with this opinion, but if an Army company was formed consisting of ghetto youts, that company would have no qualms about combing the countryside confiscating guns and ammo from rednecks.

Having an opportunity to beat up the people along the way would be considered just a legal version of “The Knockout Game,” and therefore a fringe benefit of the job.
