How Will They Confiscate Your Guns?
Keep And Bear Arms ^ | July 21, 2000 | John A. Sutter

Posted on 03/11/2013 4:50:11 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

For decades I have heard gun owners claim that the government would never be able to confiscate our firearms because the government would lose too many men. The implication being, of course, that gun owners would actively resist confiscation, even to the point of shooting back. But I believe this thinking is outdated and doesn’t align very well with reality. But before you tell me how big your honor guard in Hell will be when that day comes, let’s think about how the government could really do it.

Suppose, for the sake of argument, the government bans all civilian possession of firearms at the end of this month. Congress passes a total ban and the President cuts his own re-election throat by signing it. Gun owners get some grace period to turn them in, even beyond the deadline, without being charged with a crime. If we use Australia and Britain as examples there will still be a significant number of firearms that are not turned in. Some estimates put the Australian turn-in at less than 25% and the British faired only about 28%. But Australians and the British have long been used to obeying almost every gun control law. Not so the Americans. When laws are passed that we don’t like, we bite. We scratch. We vote. So here we sit after the guns have been collected and the amnesties have run out. Now what? Send out the personnel carriers, swat and shock troops to seize the guns from those militia “terrorists” who refused to turn them in? Don’t be silly.

The government has lots of records about you. If you purchased a firearm since 1968, chances are that they have some record of it somewhere....

Same here, they won’t.

They can forget that nonsense, this is still Texas.

There are lots of ways to resist that don’t involve direct confrontation and violence. The Canadians destroyed their gun registration system by feeding it junk and running up the cost by geometric proportions. Think of the current budget “talks.” Now think of forcing the gun grabbers to go to Congress and ask for $300 billion dollars to fund the program. Picture poll numbers tanking. :-)

Entire states will refuse confiscation. The lines are already drawn.

Surely they know they cannot pull this off.

But I guess they don’t comprehend yet. They are dumb enough to think that ObozoCare will still work. (It was never intended to work, only destroy the medical system and our nation’s financial system.) Commies are like that.

Tobacco, unlike firearms, aren’t a means to an end or a gaurantor of other rights, and many gun-owners and non-gun-owners intuit that. That’s the difference, IMO.

Maybe you will run to a foreign land....but I won’t and neither will my family...

This country is worth fighting and dying for...

Who are they going to get to enforce this? The local LEO’s? The Sheriffs of the five surrounding counties were I live have all publically vowed not to enforce and federal gun sanctions....

Will the feds get a few citizens in the beginning? Yep, that would be true....

The overwhelming violent response would be unparralelled....

Here’s a more realistic scenario....

The feds arrest some poor citizen after finding weapons in his house....He is their example case for the show trial....

The day of the trial, several hundred protestors show up with the explicit intent to free him in the name of justice...

All hell breaks loose with a couple of hundred dead or wounded on both sides....

People across the nation are shocked and outraged at the federal government gross actions....Federal buildings would burn nationwide while local LEO’s sit on their hands.....

Congressmen and Senators go into hiding, impeach the President and rescind the oppressive laws.....

Obama at best, has limited and very tenuous control, he would never politically survive.....

Therein begins the start of the reverse cleansing.

“What will the LEOs do when they get a call about men with guns...at a Rat’s place”

Hahaha, good point. There fixed it.

Pennsylvania has a million deer hunters with scoped high powered rifles(more than 1 each) and that is an army in itself.

IMO that's the thing that's going to bring this Beer Summit Putsch to a grinding halt. Gun control will be the icing on their coffin but about a year from now, when the economy is well and truly effed and doctors offices are closing so fast the shutting doors cause hurricane force winds, people won't be thinking about gun control or "fiscal cliffs."

They will be sizing up lamp posts though. I recommend standing back and letting the low info voters and Holder's people have their way with TPTB.

Hypothetically speaking only; one good shot each, lose the rifle, go home and wait until it’s over.

wiki sucks as a source, but it says that

There are 51 million total guns in texas & Texas population 24 million

There is no way for the folks at Wiki to know, there are a lot of guns with no papers going back to statehood.

My best guess it 2.5-3 guns per every man woman and child in Texas.

But think about their estimate (I think it is low), 51,000,000 guns in civilian hands in Texas. That should sober outsiders.

A lot of the guns here are not AR’s. Many are big bore hunkers.

I recently started reloading for one of our old guns. A model 71 Winchester 348. Had a hard time finding brass but was able to buy some and some Hornady Leverevolution 200 gr. FTX bullets. They have a new rubber tip that makes them safe to shoot in a tubular feed gun. The bullet looks like the typical spitzer design. Can be loaded for over 2500 fps. Very good ballistics. Range? hee hee hee Would amaze you.

The liberal socialist with support from RINO’s will pass what they will refer to as a “compromise gun control bill” that will have in the legislation for a National Firearm Registry Data Base (NFRDB). Once that is in place, then anytime any American is charged, ticketed, or complaints filed against him or her, the incident report will be placed in he NCIC and LEIN, the Federal Government being notified, the ATFE will then run the Americans name and SSN through the NFRDB to find any firearms they may possess and where they are located. The ATFE will then send out a SWAT Team to confiscate those firearms, irregardless of how the case comes out, the federal government will get to decide who is “mentally” competent to possess a firearm and no matter how many civil actions are filed, the American will not receive their firearms back. This is called “confiscation” of all firearms in the United States through attrition. While this may take several years, it will insure the federal government is well funded to reach this goal and provides a job for many years to come.

AM SELF SUFFICIENT - DON'T PAY TAXES EXCEPT PROPERTY TAXES.

State cuts off state assistance?

Actually they don’t even have to go that far.

For what use is a (then-illegal) gun if you use it to defend yourself and thereby open yourself up to felony charges and lawsuits. Yes, it still is preferable to watching your wife and daughter getting raped in a home invasion, of course, but short of that, it’s useless to you. You can’t show it to anyone, cannot buy ammo, cannot take it to the range...and heaven forbid the police find it, maybe during an unrelated break-in or fire investigation.
