A Good Description of Government interference "An Elephant on a Water Bed" ~ Vanity

Posted on 08/23/2013 2:12:23 PM PDT by GraceG

A Definition I just thought up a few minutes to demonstrate how government works or doesn't work.

"Government is a like an Elephant on a Water Bed."

When the Elephant look at the water bed it sees a nice uniform surface then it plops it's substantial mass on one side of the bed. It then looks at the rest of the bed that is left exposed and it has bulged up in an unsightly bubble that looks ugly. Stupidly the Elephant decides that it must use it's feet to stamp down the bulges to make the whole bed uniform. This action doesn't have the Elephant's intended effect in mind as it causes more bubbles to pop up in the water bed. The Elephant then ends up using all of it's feet and even it's trunk in an attempt to squash everything down... But it fails at this... The Elephant then gets more and more angrier and begins forcibly trampling it's feet in to the soft flexible water bed until.... IT BURSTS!!!!

This is just like any sort of government interference, say for instance Obama Care or the Affordable Care act as it is somewhat known as. Already the elephant has sat on the bed that is Healthcare and has already put several feet down upon the bed and what is starting to happen? The Doctors are already contemplating going into Cash only health care as they are being strangled or stamped by the massive government trying to tramp down the things that stick out. Fairly soon the Elephant that is the Leviathan government will start thrashing about on the bed that if the Healthcare Industry by forcing all doctors to work for the state or penalizing or making it illegal for doctors to work for cash only....

The Bed will Burst, and the Elephant will be setting dumb founded on the remains with a confused look on it's face which will soon turn to fur4y as it decides that the people who made the water bed are to blame of it exploding under it's immense weight.

If only the Elephant realized that it was the problem and simply got off the water bed so it could admire the water bed as it smooths itself out after the ripples of it's original interference has died down...

Is this a good analogy to help explain the perils of government interference?

Please let me know!

Liberals see the elephant crap but can’t see the elephant in the room.

A Definition I just thought up a few minutes to demonstrate how government works or doesn’t work.

“Government is a like an Elephant on a Water Bed.”

When the Elephant looks at the water bed it sees a nice uniform surface, then it plops it’s substantial mass onto one side of the bed. It then looks at the rest of the bed that has been left exposed and notices it has bulged up in an ugly and unsightly bulge. Stupidly the Elephant decides that it must use it’s feet to stamp down the bulges to make the whole bed more uniform looking. This action doesn’t have the Elephant’s intended effect in mind as it causes more bulges to pop up in the water bed. The Elephant then ends up using all of it’s feet and even it’s trunk in an attempt to squash everything down... But it fails at this... The Elephant then gets more and more angry and begins forcibly trampling it’s feet in to the soft flexible water bed until.... IT BURSTS!!!!

This is just how many forms of government interference develop. Let’s use an example, for instance Obama Care or the Affordable Care act. Already the elephant has sat on the bed that is Healthcare and has already put several feet down upon the bed and what is starting to happen? The Doctors are already contemplating going into Cash only health care as they are being strangled or stamped by the massive government trying to tramp down the things that stick out. Fairly soon the Elephant that is the Leviathan government will start thrashing about on the bed that is the Healthcare Industry by forcing all doctors to work for the state, or penalizing them, or making it illegal for doctors to work for cash only....

The Bed will Burst, and the Elephant will be setting there dumbfounded on the remains with a confused look on it’s face which will soon turn to intense fury as it decides that the people who made the water bed in the first place are to blame for it exploding under it’s own immense weight.

If only the Elephant realized that it was the problem and simply got off the water bed so it could admire the water bed as it smooths itself out after the ripples of it’s original interference has died down...

yes, its a very appropriate analogy. now to just be able to trim it down to a catchy phrase like “lifes like a box of chocolates, you never know whats on the inside”.

maybe “govt’s like an elephant on a waterbed, it tries to stomp out the bulge it created when it laid on it in the first place”

Very good, but elephants are intelligent.

How about using a jackass instead?
