I was mowing my ditch and a Deputy Sheriff stopped, got out of his vehicle and offered to finish mowing the ditch[I only have one arm] I thanked him and let him know I appreciated his offer, but I needed the exercise.
The purpose of posting this is to broadcast that there are still decent law enforcement officers.
If you had one dog, things woulda been different.

Bad apples exist in every vocation. It’s the bad cops and their acts that get all the media coverage leading many to believe that all cops are bad. Thanks for posting.
In a county where I lived, my husband was the Republican County Chair, and I was the expert on election law, so we were beating the always had been Democrat County into a Republican County. The sheriff was a Democrat, beholden to the leader of that party, and both of them hated my husband and me and the sheriff or any of his deputies would have put me in jail in a minute if they could have.
One of the constables was working with us, and he would have kept the sheriff or his men from arresting me, likely he would have arrested them, including the sheriff which a constable can do. Due to that macho constable, I was fairly safe from mistreatment of the Democrat sheriff group.
The Democrat assistant D.A. did threaten to arrest me one time. He shouldn’t have said that to me as it went county wide he might arrest a nice little old lady just helping her county. That Democrat DA was voted out of office the next time and our Republican won.
I tell this story to show the political intrigue that happens in counties when conservatives make a stand - the legal system will try to get you if they are the opposite party and they were in that county until we defeated them at the polls. I was never arrested.
Good cop ....now the doggies have to be convinced .....:o)3

There are indeed good cops out there. Few bad apples ruin things for every profession.

I used to live by a guy that also had only one arm. I asked him if he would like me to remove the snow from his driveway for him. He politely declined several times.
I was always impressed with how well he could shovel snow with one arm.

I live in Maine and I’m a night owl.
COPS airs on a local station every weeknight at 1:30 AM.
Recently, they had three segments featuring.....you guessed it.....the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department.
I know a handful of cops here in Maine, and all of them are great guys.

I think the vast majority are good honest people.
Same as society.
And in society there are bad guys unfortunately.
In the work I do, I had to call the police on a severely delusional hallucinating client who had car keys. I got the keys away and in rode the sheriff and the ems guys.
Having seen the results of the big city police on the broken bodies of the mentally ill, I must say that our local sheriff’s department treated the client like a beloved family member, never touched, and used encouragement to place in ambulance. Sterling work. Our county mounties are among the best. And the more I read about the history of the sheriff’s departments the more respect I have for these folks. They truly serve the people here.

Actually, sounds like a lot of the deputies around this area.
Of course, those of us living in areas with ditches to be mowed are, and have police with, an entirely different demographic & mindset than those in ‘abandoned properties’ venues.
It’s nice to hear there are still some out there.
A lot of the city cops have to deal with disrespectful, nobody works, you owe me something mentality. Can be very draining of an officers humanity. Jerry springer, judge Judy,whats that Texas congress woman’s name
