The Bureau of Land Management announced that it would not enforce a court order to round up cows owned by Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, effectively ending the siege at the southern Nevada ranch.

Associated Press:

“Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public,” BLM Director Neil Kornze said.

“We ask that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding as the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service work to end the operation in an orderly manner,” he said....

Elections are 8 months away and April 19th is 8 days from last Friday.

The situation was spinning out of control and the administration could see another Waco brewing. They elected to stand down for the time being for the sake of "optics". After the elections the petulant children in DC and their minions will have more flexibility to deal with the situation as they see fit.

Yep, I think a posse of libs led by Harry Reid ought to get out there and perform a citizens arrest. Take Al Franken and Nasty Nan, they could call it the Posse of Pussies.

I wish someone could post the court order pdf format. Love to read that. I have never seen a federal court action involving assets and property enforced by anyone but U.S. Marshall’s. Not sayin I’ve seen it all, but I have seen a few. Also the Marshall’s wouldn’t screw things up this badly and certainly wouldn’t back down. Not unless a higher court rescinded the order.

There was no service by Marshall’s or Sheriff which indicates no court order.

Good observation. So one reason why the dust hasn't settled on this Bundy issue is the following. People are passing along incorrect information because they are not familiar with "the process" themselves; something like that.

I'm still not sure who owns the land that Bundy's cattle is grazing on. If the feds don't own it then there are constitutional issues imo.

The Court Order allowed the “United States” to grab the cattle.

Lots more guns and ammo will be sold between now and November. Unless they have some kind of Nazi-style “wonder weapons” that we don't know about, they'll have about as much luck against us as they did the Viet Cong, the opposition armies in Iraq, the Taliban and the Somalis.

Even less luck against the citizenry. The VC, Republican Guard, Taliban, and Somalis didn't have ready access to their home addresses.

And if they had, there were still oceans in the way and language & cultural barriers. No such limitation exists here.

The infringements are more far-reaching and there is much more at stake now

The referenced article includes the following wording:

... desert BLM land ...

First, why did Sean Hanity allegedly say that the land in question is state land?

Next, if the feds do own the land in which case Hanity is wrong, then did they acquire it by proper compensation according to either the Constitution's Clause 17 of Section 8 of Article I, or the eminent domain clause of the 5th Amendment?

Otherwise, if the land was acquired by the feds bureaucratically and without compensation, the BLM has no constitutional authority to call the shots concerning the land imo.

What constitutional clause am I overlooking that gives any federal agency the right to tell people what to do concerning land that the feds do not own?
