The need for loud, swift action in response to John Kerry’s libelous statements about Israel

Today is Yom Hashoah — Holocaust Remembrance Day — a day on which Jews and all civilized people around the globe commemorate the 6 million who died at the hands of virulent antisemites. Israel takes this day very seriously.

For those unclear on the whole Israel concept (Obama, Kerry, and State Department, I’m speaking to you), Israel is the only liberal democracy within the Middle East. It’s the only nation in that region that allows all people to worship freely, that accords full rights to women, and that protects all minorities, including sexual and racial minorities, from discrimination, even while extending to them the full panoply of available civil rights. When its neighbors kicked out around 1,000,000 Jews in the years after 1948 in order to make their nations judenrein, Israel took in every single one of those refugees (distinguishing itself from the surrounding Arab nations who refused to take in the tens of thousands of Arabs who fled Israel after the UN recognized its statehood).

Showing what a crude bastard he is (which is separate from his being a stupid, malevolent, narcissistic gold digger), John Kerry chose Yom Hashoah as the day on which to announce that Israel is on the verge of becoming an apartheid state. This is is the same John Kerry, of course, who has been repeatedly stating that it’s all Israel’s fault that his misbegotten peace talks failed, never mind the fact that Palestinians demanded concessions before negotiations began, refused to give up anything, refused to negotiate, continued to celebrate mass murderers, and recently allied themselves with a terrorist group.

This is also the same John Kerry who appears incapable of realizing that the only reason that the Palestinian territories, Gaza, and the surrounding Arab nations aren’t apartheid nations is because they skipped the whole “discriminating against minorities” part. Instead, they simply slaughtered or expelled their Jews and are now working towards the same end with their Christians.

John Kerry has gone from being merely a pathetic buffoon to becoming a grave national embarrassment, at least from the viewpoint of ordinary Americans who value freedom and recognize Israel as a light unto nations, especially situated as it is in the heart of the globe’s darkness. Sadly, the only thing keeping Kerry in office is the fact that the Democrat Party power structure, from the President on down, wholeheartedly (and with increasing openness) agrees with Kerry’s sentiments.

Although Obama et al are becoming less coy about their old-fashioned, virulent antisemitism, they are not entirely immune to public pressure, provided that enough of the public puts pressure on them. We are the public and it’s time for us to raise our voices. The Emergency Committee for Israel has issued a good statement to that point:

On Friday, Secretary of State John Kerry raised the specter of Israel as an “apartheid state.” Even Barack Obama condemned the use of this term when running for president in 2008.

Yet this was no gaffe. Secretary Kerry’s musings on the Jewish state’s dire future have become a regular feature of his public remarks. His latest prediction follows other statements in recent months that have in effect threatened Israel — never the Palestinians — with a list of disasters should his diplomatic efforts fail: violence, isolation, delegitimization, boycotts — and now “apartheid.”

It is no longer enough for the White House to clean up after the messes John Kerry has made. It is time for John Kerry to step down as Secretary of State, or for President Obama to fire him. And it would go a long way toward repairing the damage Kerry has done if his predecessor as Secretary of State, who is the likely Democratic Party nominee for president, explained why this kind of rhetoric had no place in her State Department and why it will have no place in her presidential campaign.

If you would like to see John Kerry forcibly retired, call (202) 647-4000.

This entire Administration needs to resign.

Where is our “Reset button”?

You said that Holocaust rememberers (Jews?) “sweep it under the rug.”

Perhaps you would prefer a different term? It matters little. Bandying semantics is a fool's errand. The facts just won't go away, will they? 5.5 million murders inspired by racial malice are a pretty big thing to forget. Have you forgotten them? I have not. Hitler et al murdered almost 12 million people in the death camps. Deal with it.

That indicates they are intentionally trying to hide something.

Intentionally? Well, yes. Of course. They're human; they act according to plans and intentions. It's what humans do. I suppose we could say that they're mere brute beasts, acting according to instinct ... but I know that to be false. I cannot speak to the knowledge possessed by others, nor can I speak to their intentions.

I can only speak to my own knowledge and intentions. I know that Hitler's atrocities far exceed the 6 million Jews he murdered. I intend that we NEVER FORGET.

That is the way the Devil pays those who serve him well.

The Devil pays his followers by dragging their souls to Hell.

John Kerry's a tacky lowlife with money. Not enough money to wash away his filth, but enough to impress people like Obama...

What other reason could there be for him to be at State?

I'm ashamed of how he treated the people of Israel on this very special day... what on earth is the matter with him?

So, then, are Christians trying to hide something when they detail the number of Christians killed in Syria and not mention the Muslims being killed?

Or are they just detailing the impact on their own community?

This is not a matter of ethnic o national origin; but it is about whom an American president should support, our faithful friends and allies or our enemies?

I’m trying to get you to answer the question at #25. I’ve asked it about 3 times now, and each time you’ve considered other issues in the posts more important to respond to.

I don’t answer red herrings. Are you trying to make some kind of point?

A red herring is trying to divert attention. Instead, I’m trying to focus attention on the position of some that Jews are trying to “sweep under the rug” or “hide” 6 million non-Jews killed in the Holocaust when they focus on the 6 million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust.

I don’t think they’re trying to “hide” or “sweep under the rug”. I think they’re just focusing on their own people.

So, the question about Christians focusing on only Christians killed in Syria is appropriate. If there are also Moslems being killed, does that mean Christians are trying to “hide” something or “sweep something under the rug”, OR are they simply trying to communicate the damage done to their own community?

What do you think?

A red herring is trying to divert attention

That's exactly what you're doing. You're saying "Look! Someone else is committing atrocities!!! Let's talk about that instead!!!"

What do you think?

I think that deliberate partial reporting of an event, deliberately leaving out important parts of it, deliberately presenting a small fraction of it as if it were the whole is morally reprehensible. And doing it accidentally suggests incompetence.

And it doesn't matter who is doing it.

Remember, we're talking about the atrocities of the Third Reich here, not somebody else's atrocities. So ... once again: What possible excuse is there for limiting one's discussion of National Socialist death-camp atrocities to approximately half the folks killed there? Seriously: can you even try to come up with a good excuse for it?

I just told you. The Jews are focusing on the damage done to their own community, their own people.

That is not “hiding” or “sweeping under the rug”. It’s not even disrespecting.

It is nothing more than dealing with a great horror’s impact on them.

It isn’t even about someone else committing atrocities. And it was never even presented in such a way. It’s always been presented as a parallel in today’s world with Christians in Syria. It has never been presented as a diversion from the Holocaust, and that is obviously so because both sides of the parallel were always mentioned.

I would also point out that while Yom HaShoah is primarily focused on the Holocaust as a personal tragedy for the Jewish people, the prayers and exhortations on that day look beyond the Jews to all who are oppressed and murdered because they are different.

It's actually that impulse to stand up for the oppressed which put the Jews at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement for blacks in this country, and which has led to most secular Jews leaping on supporting homosexual rights. I of course believe there to be a wide gulf between protecting ethnicities and protecting sexual behavior, but the desire to stand up for the perceived oppressed is a strong one in Jews.

It's also why Israel hasn't simply waged genocidal war against the Palestinian Arabs and driven them out of the Land, btw.

Shalom

Thanks, Buggman.

I don’t think the Israelis/Jews are guilty of trying to “sweep under the rug” or “hide” the deaths of those other people killed in the Holocaust when they mention the 6 million Jews killed.

Shalom

Any more than Armenians and Assyrians are guilty of sweeping the Holocaust under the rug when they emphasize the Turkish genocide, agreed.
