Brian Stelter: Sarah Palin Deserves Benefit Of Doubt Over ‘Brawl’ Reports (CNN host)
Mediaite ^ | September 21, 2014 | Andrew Desiderio

On his show Reliable Sources this morning, CNN host Brian Stelter defended Sarah Palin against media coverage of her family’s alleged “brawl” at a snowmobile party earlier this month.

“Doesn’t Sarah Palin deserve the benefit of the doubt?” Stelter asked.

He began the segment by airing a clip from Morning Joe in which host Joe Scarborough seemed to take a jab at what Stelter called Scarborough’s own network’s “saturation” of coverage over Gov. Chris Christie‘s “Bridgegate” scandal — or lack of.

Stelter then took aim at the New York Daily News‘s coverage of the story, saying the newspaper did not have its own sources for the story and instead relied on others — namely, an anonymous source reported on by Amanda Coyne, a blogger who focuses on Alaska politics.

“So from one single story, hundreds were born,” Stelter added.

He acknowledged that a story about a “VP candidate turned a reality show star gone wild is irresistible to a lot of reporters,” but said the result was a “feeding frenzy.”

One show even created a logo for the story, Stelter said. He credited his own network with attempting to get the Palin family’s side of the story.

But he said there are still no photos or videos recounting the alleged events, and said some in the media were “too quick to jump to conclusions.”

Other, like Fox News, shockingly, did not mention the Palin brawl story even once. “Palin is, of course, a Fox News contributor, so you have to wonder if the network shied away from the story for that reason, or if it simply decided that the famous family’s possible feud wasn’t really newsworthy,” Stelter said.

He then sided with Palin’s daughter Bristol, who wrote on her blog last week about a front-page story on Yahoo! News‘s website which revived rumors about a possible divorce. “I find something new about my family every day!” Bristol wrote.

Bristol’s blog post has to make you wonder. What is it like to see your alleged family drama splashed across the Yahoo front page? Don’t they deserve the benefit of the doubt?

I recommend Bristol’s facebook page to anyone who is on facebook. It’s a really feelgood page - filled with Christian stories and good-hearted anecdotes. Thanks to a FR thread in which the darling Bristol was pretty much trashed by Palin haters, I got to sign on to the page.

I don’t even listen to negative Palin stories.

Yeah, you would have thought Sarah’s husband Todd might have had some young girl on the back of his snowmobile and drove off a bridge or something. (s)

From what little ive gathered, the palins arrived in a stretch hummer to attend a party they were invited to. The very minute upon their arrival, they were set upon by willows ex boyfriend when he tried to enter the hummer uninvited. Track tried to prevent this only to find himself jumped by 3 friends of the ex boyfriend. Todd tried to save his son by pulling these guys off of track only to have these guys turn on todd too and pummel him.

Sarah was yelling at the ones attacking her son and husband.

The palins evening ruined before they even had a chance to enter the house where the party was, retreated back into their hummer and took off before the cops had a chance to arrive.

The claims that the palins were drunk I dont believe. It sounds as if they never even had a chance to imbibe a single drop of alcohol at the party.

(I could be wrong on a few details here and there. This is all guesswork).

Don’t take the kids to alcohol parties in the first place.

If that happened, I doubt it.

That’s ok. The point needed to be made anyway. How does one have the nerve to even show his face after a situation and death involving one of your underlings in your office?

Isn’t the blogger “reporting” this incident one of the people who sued Gov. Palin when she was in office?

No. The blogger reporting this incident is amanda coynes. The blogger that filed many of those ethics charges against palin was Linda Kellen Biegel

I’ve heard your account of the incident before. If that is what really happened, I’m wondering what motivated the ex-boyfriend to try to enter the family van, uninvited? And what made three other individual young men physically assault Track? Was there a long, ongoing feud between Track and this ex-boyfriend, or had someone already paid for a show?

Why no photos, no films? With the millenials going fist to jaw on each other, seems like perfect fodder to film and upload online for lasting infamy and entertainment. I’m sure the fact that Fox was acting as though nothing at all even happened, was driving the libs completely batty. The whole thing is both unimportant in the long run, and quite mysterious.

The media doesn’t need any stinking facts or proof. All they need is to hear the name Sarah Palin, and they will run with lies and half-truths and 24/7 coverage. The MSM makes me sick! What’s really important is the news about the NFL./s

It is amazing how the media suddenly loses all interest in actually investigating facts/proof when it comes to Palin. They’ll run with anything remotely negative about her at the drop of a hat, even if the sources are nothing but deranged anti-Palin bloggers who’ve had histories of spreading vile lies and smears. The loose standards the media has consistently used towards Palin is a jaw-dropping indictment of these hacks. The media has indeed gone well beyond partisan bias, and morphed into a “palace guard” protecting the elites and attacking those who dare question them.

Sarah lives rent-free in liberals’ heads. It’s one of the reasons we love her and she has such a following. If she were president, many liberal heads would explode (which might well draw the attention of ISIS.)
