Why can't the majority of black people and the rioters accept that the reason blacks are much more likely to get into trouble with the police is because they are much more likely to commit criminal acts, both serious and petty, and the reason they are much more likely to be harmed is because of the way they interact with the police, resisting arrest or even assaulting the officers?
The question is rhetorical. They don't accept this because it's always difficult for every human being to recognise one's faults - or, as in this case, the faults of the group one identifies with. For rioters and looters there are added motives: regardless of whether they really believe that Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin et al were victims of the police or of their own behaviour, they get a reward, material or psychological or both, from screaming and stealing.
Now the "protests" have come to London. Last night at the Westfield Shopping Centre (Europe's largest), in West London, demonstrators staged a "die in" over the death of Eric Garner and clashed with the police. 76 were arrested, which is an indication of the high numbers involved in this ridiculous pantomime.
But it wasn't just idiotic, it was deeply damaging. In such a bad economic climate, shops lost thousands of pounds of revenue from Christmas sales. And dozens of police and security guards were deployed, who could have been used to fight the crime that these "protesters" are implicitly supporting and now committing.
High-end stores and outlets at the shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush were forced to close, with terrified customers and staff barricaded inside, as no fewer than 600 militants staged a mass "die in" by sprawling on the floor in the centres atrium from 6pm yesterday. They chanted Garners last words as he was restrained by chokehold: "I cant breathe!".
I wish we could easily gather so many people to demonstrate for worthy causes instead.
Several of these criminals "charged around" in front of terrified shoppers.
The arrests were for criminal damage and public order offences.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: Shortly after 8.20pm, a group of protesters broke away from a larger group and attempted to force entry to the shopping centre assaulting security staff and causing damage to property... one man was further arrested on suspicion of assault."
A shop worker said: It was pretty scary. They were charging around and we just didnt know what would happen next. We thought, to protect everyone, we would lock the doors."
Witnesses commented that it was over the top.
Some questioned the point of the die-in, and a police officer told a demonstrator: This is the worst protest ever. Theres no message.
I wonder when they’ll have a Dumb-In.
OK, WHO is behind this effort to rile up the sheeple?
There is just not enough “there” there to get people this worked up.
Is it the same “spontaneous” group that provided tents and feeding troughs for the animals of the “Occupy [your city here]” movement?
“Occupy” failed miserably at WHATEVER they were trying to do... but what are they trying to do? Do they picture cities burning and martial law?
What exactly is their end game?
They already did. They just didn't call it that.
And while I am on the subject, who paid for the food and cooking tents and hired the staff to cook and serve the “Occupy” nutjobs?
“Spontaneous” protests are usually not catered, and you don’t hire someone overnight on this scale without planning. workers had to come set up the tents, set up the kitchens, ring food, hire staff to cook it, serve it to the weirdos who were crapping on police cars, and clean up.
Who signed the paychecks?
Ah the freaks of nature that normal people are forced to deal with on a daily basis.
London, huh?
OK by me if we export idiot protests to Europe. The fact that none of them would likely know (or care) about the true facts of Garner’s death is amusing.
But hey - let them riot. Just not here.
exactly right! something is very wrong with this picture.
These morons could care less about an incident or two in the US involving blacks and the police. What they really want is anarchy and to try to disrupt and destroy the "system". They want to dump capitalism and impose socialism. At best they are useful idiots for those with larger political and economic agendas. The protestors themselves are just being used. At worst, they want to tear down society and live like people did in the 12th century. Or they think they do until they'd have to live without their capitalistic produced products and technology. Then they'd whine like the little kids that they are.
And, of course, by wanting socialism instead of capitalism, they are aligning themselves with a system that has never been successful in any country in the history of the world, ever. EVER! What a bunch of LOSERS.
Enza, while much of your article makes sense, it is important for journalists such as yourself to stop perpetuating the myth that a "chokehold" was used rather than a headlock, when there is absolutely no evidence to support the myth.
It reminds one of those who continue to describe MB as an "unarmed teenager" when the facts indicate he was physically fit, 50% larger than the police officer and his blood was found in the officer's auto.
There are way too many liberals/commies/progressives all around the world.
VERY WELL SAID!
I am using that on FB
OMG !!!! The Stupid is spreading ,LOL
I went to the Daily Mail website for more coverage and comments. The great majority of comments by British posters was extremely negative towards the demonstrators.
These are people that are just so desperate to be part of something perceived important.
Pathetic
bttt
I used to try and discuss, debate (but Al Gore said the debate was over before anybody knew it had even taken place) and argue with the climate change folks (trust me, they are all the same liberal losers as the current protestors), trying to wrap my brain around where they were coming from. Between the quote I'll attribute to David Horowitz, "The issue is never about the issue. It is always about the revolution" and listening to that doofus, Patrick Kennedy, being interviewed at a climate change march, I realized that things like these current Michael Brown & Eric Garner protestors, the climate change fanatics and the Occupy Wall Street types, are never about what the media makes them out to be. It's, as Horowitz says, always about the [socialist] revolution. I even came across a climate change protest banner that said as much:
So now when I see these protests, I know that except for the low-level protestors, looters, rioters, arsonists and wannabes, who don't have a clue what they are being used for, that this is just more liberal anti-capitalism claptrap being delivered under a different name.
I don’t recall a die in for the British soldier who was beheaded by 2 Muslims last year.
