CUNY Newspaper Editorial Calls for Shooting of Police, Armed, Violent Protests
Pundit Press ^ | 12/24/14 | Aurelius

In a CUNY newspaper editorial written earlier this month, the “Advocate’s” Editor-in-Chief called for violent protests against those opposed to “justice” for Michael Brown and others.

The piece, called “In Support of Violence,” contains several chilling passages.

“The time for peace has passed, indeed it never existed in this country,” the editorial explains. “It doesn’t matter if Brown robbed a convenience store, or even if he assaulted Wilson. What matters is that the case highlights the depths to which the capitalist state and its police forces will protect their own and attempt to stifle any sort of dissent.”

The editorial continues, saying that the destruction of “mom and pop stores” were not because of protesters, but were caused by “the decades long, the centuries long, daily oppression people experience at the hands of the capitalist state.”

Protesters need to be both violent and armed, it continues. “The problem with the protestors’ violence in Ferguson is that it is unorganized,” it explains. “If the violence was to be organized, and the protestors armed – more so than the few that sparingly are – then the brunt of social pressures would not be laid onto middling proprietors, but unto those deserving the most virulent response of an enraged populace.”

...In its final paragraph, it says that, when the time is right, people need to murder police officers. “When the state comes down on its citizenry violently, we must resist, with equitable violence if necessary,” it says. Again, this writer believes that the police are killing its citizens and is proposing “equitable violence” in response. You can figure out what that means.

If I wrote that it is time for violently taking Washington D.C. (when there is not a Hawaii Vacation happening) and haul all the tyrants out of their offices and drown them all in the Potomac River... is that protected Free Speech?

If you aren’t liberal when you enter college, you are programmed in that direction. If you are liberal, the indoctrination is directed to socialism, communism, anarchy, and now, apparently lawlessness and murder.

Everything has been turned upside down in six short years. A fundamental transformation.

They need to shut that newspaper down. Free Speech does not include the right to incite violence.

> Oppression at the hands of the capitalist state

There it is.

And they agitate for violence. Subversion is a crime. It’s time they are prosecuted.

Well, like you in this case, they’d be calling for violent rebellion.

If you can win it...then it’s protected speech.

If not....up against the wall!

Interesting that Race is not the basis for this one. Just the usual Communist complaint about capitalist oppression.

This paper needs to be closed, its offices randsacked by mobs of angry people, the person who wrote such a letter Tar and feathered and ran out of town on a rail. How Victorians handled things like this.

Defending yourself against an oppressive state is supposed to be every American's birthright.

"Defending" yourself against law enforcement as they attempt to apprehend you for stealing, assaulting, murdering, etc someone else is not.

The article says the editorial is the individual view of the Editor-in-Chief, Gordon Barnes.

Here is Gordon Barnes:

Free Speech does not include the right to incite violence

It doesn't? When the Continental Congress met to plan war, what was that?

Advocating rebellion is what they are doing. If no one goes along with it....it's just noise in a paper.

Revolutionary pamphlets all over the place saying the same thing every day. Mostly ignored.

Inciting Riot is what the Chicago 7 were tried for. Let me know how that turned out, and how many prosecutions for that have subsequently been pursued.

Speech is just speech. No prior restraint. Until someone does something because of it - and you can prove that - it's just...words.

CUNY used to be called the Poor Man’s Harvard. People from non-WASP backgrounds whom were not allowed to go to the Ivy League flocked to CUNY. CUNY allowed ethnic whites and minorities to achieve the American dream. The 60s destroyed that as CUNY went from being one of the most selective institution in the country to open admissions. You can the result as CUNY is not just a shadow of its former self. They used to have that Black racist Jefferies on its faculty. This scum bag editor-in-chief Marxist revolutionary wanna be is just the latest example of who no serious student would attend CUNY.
