We wrote here about Harry Reid’s supposed close encounter with a piece of exercise equipment, which handed him in the hospital. The equipment was later claimed by Reid’s office to be an elastic exercise band. This is how the accident allegedly happened:
The accident happened when an elastic exercise band broke, striking Reid in the face and causing him to fall, said spokesman Adam Jentleson. Reid struck some equipment as he fell, breaking multiple bones near his right eye.
As he hit the floor, he broke several ribs, Jentleson said. …
Jentleson said Reid is likely to have severe facial bruises.
The accident happened on New Year’s Day, but we were never told whether that meant after midnight on New Year’s Eve, or the middle of the afternoon on January 1. Lots of people must know the answer to that question, but so far they aren’t talking. I suppose it is barely possible that an elastic exercise band could break, hit someone in the face and cause him to fall down. And I suppose he could injure his face and break ribs in the fall, although the ribs, especially, seem like a stretch.

The exercise equipment excuse doesn’t wash.
The kind of stuff that’s installed in home gyms these days — and Dingy Harry can afford the best — doesn’t tip, rattle, roll, or break. Certainly not under the level of strain that a geezer like Reid would put on it.
Ribs and face? Look for clues. He got thumped by a person’s fists.
The enforcer was probably somewhat perplexed though. He needed to wallop him enough to get the points across, but not enough to kill him. That’s harder do do with someone Reid’s age.

I have to give that exercise band a AAA rating for doing what a lot of Americans only dreamed of doing.
And if you think about it -- if someone is so powerful that they can take a powerful senator like Harry Reid, knock him around really good, and then get off totally scot-free -- that is someone who is SCARY powerful.
The people who really run this show are not known to us. Boehner, Reid, Obama -- I think they may be figureheads. But there are some truly Big Boys out there, and they do not like to be messed with.

I’ve leaned to trust Harry Reid. Really. I trust him as far as I can throw a big-block V-8.
He’d be suing an exercise equipment company in short order if this were true, money makes guys like him tick. Any way of monitoring who’s suing who?
