Obama aide takes blame for Paris absence

White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough said Tuesday it was his fault the White House didn’t send the president or another senior member of the administration to a unity rally in Paris earlier this month following the terror attack on a satirical newspaper.

“We’ve said we regret we didn’t send someone more senior than out ambassador,” McDonough said in an interview with NBC’s “The Today Show. “That rests on me, that’s my job.”

McDonough said he regretted the decision in particular because “the melee that ensued after that has covered up and obfuscated the very good progress that our intelligence agencies” and law enforcement made cooperating with the French and other allies.

“Unfortunately, the decisions I made obfuscated that effort,” McDonough said.

The comments represented the first time a White House official personally took responsibility for the decision not to dispatch the president or vice president to the rally.

Press secretary Josh Earnest said last week it was a mistake and that it was a missed opportunity to send a symbolic message that “ the American people stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our allies in France.” But he and other White House officials repeatedly declined to say who had made the decision, other than to stress that the decision had not made its way to the president’s desk.

Republicans seized on the absence to criticize the White House.

"The absence is symbolic of the lack of American leadership on the world stage, and it is dangerous," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in an op-ed in Time magazine.

But French officials largely shrugged off Obama’s decision not to appear, and praised the U.S. for its assistance in the aftermath of the attack.

“We have been overwhelmed by the expression of solid solidarity and grief and all corners of the American people, from the highest level of the administration since President Obama came to the French Embassy and Secretary Kerry, to the ordinary Americans,” French Ambassador Gérard Araud told MSNBC.

Obviously this is not true. The top guy chose not to go. This is that they do: find someone to take the blame - he is excoriated so as to deflect the blame - later he is given a reward for his loyal service.

Anything to protect the emperor.

Harry Truman had a sign on his desk: "The BUCK STOPS here". Obama needs his own sign:

So many choices - "The BUCK STOPS elsewhere", "Did I do that", or "Someone else did that".

Yes. But it touched a nerve in the world community and Obama WASN’T THERE. His glaring absence telegraphed that the USA isn’t interested in leading anymore....as if we didn’t already know that. Now the world realizes it. Obama’s destruction of our once great country is nearly complete. All the other world ‘Progressives’ were there........and Obama missed an opportunity to burnish his ‘credentials’ so he can become the next Secretary General of the UN.

Whew! For awhile there, I thought the buck stopped at the President, you know, the WON in charge.

I knew it wasn’t Obama’s fault.

Obola has concreted his legacy as the Anti-Truman.

The buck stops everywhere else but here.

It's our reaction to it, not Obama's absence he regrets

That's what I took from what the aide said. It is about Obama. It's Obama not having the natural instincts to lead during fast moving events.

Obama had no questions about going to Mandala's funeral. And even there he embarrassed the US with the selfie situation.

A car pulls up to an intersection...

“You see anything coming?”

“No man, just a greyhound.”

BAM!!!

“I thought you said nothing was coming!”

“And, I said...nothing but that bus.”

Riiiiight.

Because Obama was completely unaware of the attack, and heck, even if he was, what could HE do about it? What is he, some kind of President??!?

Truman: The buck stops here.

Clinton: The buck never got here.

Obama: There is no buck.

Too late. It was widely apparent that the Obama regime made a huge miscalculation by not attending the French rally. The people still hold this opinion, have moved on to other concerns, and the story this aide is telling doesn’t change things one bit.

I think Denis is french for Dennis. Remember Denis Potvin from the New York Islanders. However it does not explain the Irish sounding last name.

Of course... it IS too late. And that is what is so laughably pathetic about “O” and his whole Kabuki administration.

That said.... the Europeans absolutely ADORED him when he traveled there prior to his Presidential campaign. He was looking for and GOT their wholesale, unconditional and (in hindsight) worthless affirmation.

For some of us of course, it didn’t take years or even months to determine that he was a dangerous fraud.

Must be nice to go through life with a ‘safety net’ under your a%$ 100% of the time. That way you never have to be responsible .....

Nice take.

In his feeble mind, it's always just a "mistake." Like when he was photoed smirking and golfing after the ISIS beheading of an American.

This WH ding-a-ling seems to think he's invisible...like Americans are not watching and listening to the crap he spews.....like we don't know he sent out one of the WH idiots to take the fall for his stupid behavior after the Paris massacre.

It's high time----throw the useless bum out.

Back in October 2011 one of the most astute lawmen in Washington ---- Congressman Louis Gohmert (Repub-TX), a former judge -----questioned then-DHS Secy Janet Napolitano about Mohamed Elibiary, a member of the Obama admin's Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Mohamed Elibiary was given a high level security clearance and had allegedly accessed, illegally from his home computer, a Texas State and Local Intelligence Community database.....(Elibiary is now out--ousted for other shady activities).

Napolitano managed to unglue her lips from Obama's behind---and told Cong Gohmert she knew nothing about it, and that she would "personally" do the investigation. (waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

=========================================================

Among the 5 MILLION hires Obama gave top security clearance to:

Arif Alikhan, assistant secretary of Homeland Security for policy development;

Mohammed Elibiary, a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council;

Rashad Hussain, the U.S. special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference;

Salam al-Marayati, co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC);

Imam Mohamed Magid, president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA);

Eboo Patel, a member of President Obama's Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships.

==================================================

Estimates range from several thousand to approximately eight million Islamic fighters inside the United States as we type. The exact number is unknown. Several thousand could create havoc if a coordinated attack was to occur. Eight Million .... anybody’s guess. Just 19 Islamic fighters killed almost three thousand people on 911. One has to believe the worst case scenario----that nearly eight million are already here.

Cong Michelle Bachman says the FBI told her Americans who joined ISIS are allowed back in the US.

DHS' JEH JOHNSON AND SECY OF STATE JOHN KERRY SIGN OFF ON OBAMA'S ORDER
will welcome into the US, immigrants with 'limited' terror contact
The Daily Caller | 2/5/14 / FR Posted by Nachum

The Obama administration has issued new exemptions to a law that bars certain asylum-seekers and refugees who provided “limited material support” to terrorists who are believed to pose no threat from the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security and the State Department published the new exemptions Wednesday in the Federal Register to narrow a ban in the Immigration and Nationality Act excluding refugees and asylum seekers who had provided limited material support, no matter how minor, to terrorists.

“These exemptions cover five kinds of limited material support that have adversely and unfairly affected refugees and asylum seekers with no tangible connection to terrorism: material support that was insignificant in amount or provided incidentally in the course of everyday social, commercial, family or humanitarian interactions, or under significant pressure,” a DHS official explained to The Daily Caller.

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry signed the exemptions. DHS contends that the law change is “commonsense” and that immigration procedures will remain the same in other respects. (Excerpt) Read more at dailycaller.com ...

I agree. Barry would have paraded down the street waving and smiling at the crowd like it was a campaign rally. Better that he didn’t go.

Now if we could only take back the whole John Kerry thing...
