Both my girls were servers in their younger days...
I never asked them that question.
They both worked at Mimi's Cafe....a chain restaurant here in OK. I know my youngest served at a small 3 place breakfast/bunch place for many years...and liked it.
I will ask them the tip questions....Never occurred to me to ask before....
They are both off...on better careers!! Ha!!

I waited tables for about 5 years and what your daughter told you jibes 100% with my experience. Even the black servers I worked with hated waiting on blacks.

Believe me as I seethed, I ran the scenarios in my head, but I could not do it. I don’t think I have ever caused a scene; except holding Tea Party signs. I guess there is courage in numbers.

But really, it only happened because you’re black. So there’s that.
