Vanity: Prayers needed for my Dad having a "Whipple procedure" tomorrow AM
Web MD ^ | 25 FEB 15 | dcbryan1

As you may already know, Dad has had alot of problems lately.

He has early stage (T1) pancreatic Ductile adenocarcinoma (PDAC). He is having a Roux-en-y procedure tomorrow AM, followed by a "Whipple " procedure if the cancer doctors do not find any metastatic tissue.

Any prayers for Jim Bryan (#4 all time Arkansas high school basketball scorer with 2,700+ points (before 3-points invented ) ) would be appreciated.

Prayers also for St. Vincent's cancer surgeon team and Dr. Jones, too. Thanks!

Dad had a PE on 15 DEC 14 and set him back almost 90 days for his "whipple". See previous thread .

on 15 DEC 2014, Dad was VERY enthusiastic to get back home and have his whipple procedure done since it was very early stage and caught early. However, with the PE, we lost 90 days. Tommorrow is the day, and I fear that the cancer doctor will open him up, look at him, and then sew him back up and go into hospice.

Dad is a fighter and very competitive. 3 months ago he was sailing with Mom on the Danube, joking about how great it was spending any inheritance money we had coming to us. LOL.

Anyways, we all know that having a Dad around is truly priceless!

Anyways, I KNOW, in my heart, the power of prayer. I felt your prayers, our family felt your prayers on 15 DEC 14. We need them again.

Thank you FReepers!

I just prayed for your Dad, God Bless and heal him. And you get some rest and rely on God for God’s plan.

Lord, please watch over this man and guide his surgeons hands to do the necessary procedures to save his life. In Jesus name, Amen.

Our Heavenly Father, we pray to You today for our brother, Jim Bryan.. father of our DCBryan1. Heal his body, Lord. Give knowledge to his surgeons, doctors, nurses and specialists. Give comfort to his family and friends. Give him courage and strength, Dear Lord. Allow him, Lord, to feel Your Presence around him and his family during this most difficult time. In This I Pray. Amen.

Roux-en-y is normally a gastric bypass procedure for weight loss. Why is it being done in this instance?

Abdomonal abstruction due to inflamed/aggravated pancreas/pancreatitis. Basically, it is a palliative procedure and helps access other organs in case Whipple is unsuccessful.

Prayers for Dad and for you. Been there (my Dad). It’s a long surgery and long recovery; I am hoping right along with you that they have caught in time for him to finish spending your inheritance (LOL!) God Bless.
