The Clintons arent the only political dynasty to be eyeing the White House in 2016. Jeb Bush is openly considering a run, and former first lady Laura Bush would supports him. Nevertheless, Jebs mother, Barbara, might not be completely sold.
ABC News Jonathan Karl caught Laura Bush for an interview on Wednesday, and asked what she thought of her mother-in-laws discouraging comments preceding Jeb Bushs presidential exploratory committee.
I was shocked, Laura answered.
Still, she wont be bringing it up with the familys matriarch.
Do you think I would tell my mother-in-law something?
They were referring to a 2013 Today interview with Barbara Bush, where she said the country has had enough Bushes in the White House.
I think its a great country. There are a lot of great families, and its not just four families or whatever. There are other people out there that are very qualified, and weve had enough Bushes.
Shortly after that interview, Jeb Bush started stepping up his potential 2016 presidential run.
Barbara Bush had a subsequent change of heart, according to the Huffington Post, sending out a fundraising email to potential donors.
When the idea of Jeb running for President first came up, I was hesitant. You may have heard about that. When you see the pounding candidates, their spouses, and even their children take, what mother wouldnt be? But our problems are so profound that America needs a leader who can renew the promise of this great nation.
Of course, Laura Bush was unequivocal in her support of her brother-in-law, if he does choose to run.
The past few weeks have been big for the distant 2016 president race. Ted Cruz was the first person to announce his candidacy, followed by Rand Paul.
Hillary Clinton is the latest confirmed contender, starting a media frenzy with her YouTube video announcement called Getting Started.
Jeb Bush has been making some small moves, as well.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Jeb Bush seemed like he was shoring up support from the conservative base by speaking at an NRA leadership conference.
Hell likely need all the help he can get, now that Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy. Real Clear Politics has her 50 points above some of the most popular Democrats in a hypothetical party nomination race.
Theres still a long time before the 2016 presidential campaign, but Jeb Bush will likely need the support of his entire family, including his mother, to win in the end.
I’d sure hope so. The 42% of Republicans absolutely won’t vote for him poll has got to convince him if nothing else will. As GOPe political dynasties go, I will say that the Bush family has been better than the Rockefeller gang. But we still need a generation break at least.
That snotty Texas Monthly writer said the Bushes have ‘written Cruz out of the book of life.’
If this continues, I will have absolutely nothing nice left to say about W. I almost don’t already.
Agreed.
I concur!
The Fox News banner at the bottom of the screen reads: “Jeb Bush: Beating Hillary Clinton Will Not Be Easy.”
What a pathetic, weak quisling.
You’re right.
Then again, we’ve only had dem Bushes and bush-league Dems since Reagan.
Thank God Ted Cruz has the guts for a fight!
Exactly!
Plus, he’s smarter than all of them put together.
Without a doubt. THIS time we can all look forward to the debates, and to seeing a brilliant man take his opponents apart.
(Last time around, I supported Perry at first. It got so bad I couldn’t watch...I would just read the FR live thread until the inevitable screw-up happened, LOL).
You’re right again.
With Ted, we can relax and just await his brilliant answers!
W wouldn’t have been POTUS if not for Cruz fighting for him before SCOTUS!
Oh wow.
I didn’t recall that!
The Bush family is almost as narcissistic as Obama. If they weren’t, they’d have made sure Jebbie wasn’t going to run...he offers nothing positive, and this dynasty crap is utterly annoying to have to tolerate from them.
I agree, but they feel that Jeb missed his “rightful turn” when he lost that first time he ran for FL’s governorship.
Jeb was always supposed to be the one to sit in the WH, IMHO.
Imho, this is all contrived.
I’m not a huge fan of Jeb Bush, but he probably would have been a more capable president than George W. Bush.
Jeb B. would be a disaster. He is ultra-left on illegal aliens, maybe also on immigrants from enemy nations who plan to rip us off. He is for Common Core. And his wife is not qualified to be First Lady.
They’re also big New World Order promoters.
I think W had every capability to be a fantastic POTUS. He could be Reagan strong occasionally. The issue is simply that he didn’t share conservatives beliefs on a variety of issues. He was squishy at times, too willing to compromise, or just bought into the one world/no borders/cheap labor/big gov mantra. I think Jeb holds similar beliefs.
