Britt McHenry: Let’s hear the rest of the story
Canada Free Press ^ | 04/20/15 | Arthur Weinreb

There is plenty of blame to go around for both McHenry and Advanced Towing. People should not be demanding her firing unless and until the complete and unedited tape is released.

As everyone knows by now, ESPN’s Britt McHenry gained a lot more fame than she ever had on the sidelines when she had a recent run-in with a woman clerk at a towing company. McHenry showed up to get her car that had been towed from the parking lot of a northern Virginia Chinese restaurant. She had left the vehicle in the parking lot all night.

A security tape released by the towing company shows a distraught McHenry unloading on the clerk, a single mother of three. The ESPN personality begins by bragging she is on television, and tells the clerk she has a degree while the clerk has no education. McHenry tells the clerk she has a brain while the clerk does not. McHenry later goes on to make fun of the clerk’s missing teeth and again says she is on television while the clerk is in “a f*****g trailer.” The video ends with McHenry telling the woman “lose some weight, baby girl.”

The tape has since gone viral and McHenry has been suspended for one week. Many people are calling for her to be fired from the sports network. A petition on change.org calling on ESPN to fire her has, at the time of this writing, received over 15,000 signatures.

Those people who drive the tow trucks have a legitimate job to do. You leave your car parked on somebody else’s property and go elsewhere without making an arrangement with the owner of the property you set yourself up for a situation with a towing company.Trespassing is trespassing even if you are a big TV star on ESPN or a peripheral presenter.

There is a huge burger joint parking lot at the Beach resort area here that constantly gets people parking there and going off to the beach or the bars. The place has a deal with a towing company that sends a fleet of trucks over once or twice a night. The drivers go inside and the vehicles are annoưnced. Anyone who ones one of them speaks up and the rest get towed. Both the burger joint and the tow company make money.

Like no one else has had a bad day and acted like a jerk. She wasn’t at work and frankly I’m really tired of the Internet pile-ons by everyone with an opinion and a butt hole.

So what? The driver has heard it all before and obviously took it in professional stride. If you drive one of those things you operate with an equanimity or you don’t stay with it very long. I fault the TV Star only with leaving her car on somebody else’s property without making arrangements first.
When my car or bike has broken down and I have had to leave it at a convenience store or a fast food place I go inside and talk to the manager. I have never been refused or towed. I drive machines I have paid cash for so that happens now and then.

My cousin is a self employed repo man with some really nifty speed snatching equipment and a .44. He could tell you tales, loudly- his ears don’t work so well any more.

Not Guilty

Tow truck companies that work parking lots like the one that towed her car are the scum of the earth. And the one that towed her was even scummier than most from reports.

“People should not be demanding her firing unless and until the complete and unedited tape is released.”

Haha, no. There is no way that an unedited tape is going to excuse that behavior.

“It is a scam to tow from late night establishments. We preach about not driving and when they do they get towed?”

You know, every time I have talked to the establishment and explained that I wanted to leave a vehicle in their lot overnight and would get it in the morning, they had no problems with that and I wasn’t towed.

If you leave a vehicle there and don’t bother to talk to them about it? Of course they’re going to tow it.

I don’t think you have to regret your reaction, regardless of all the whining for the rest of the video to hopefully cough up some vindication for Britt. I mean, even Britt is not defending against the video, or calling for the rest of the film to vindicate herself.

In fact, the rest of the video could make her look worse!

If it were you or me, wouldn’t we see the parking rules displayed all over these city parking lots, along with the charges, and the abundance of prominently displayed towing threats? They are usually EVERYWHERE, and even if they aren’t, Britt knows the rules. She LIVES in the city. She presumably has parked on many occasions, and heard by now many horror stories about towed cars and the horrendous expense of retrieving them.

Britt abandoned her car as it turns out, for the night, reportedly. This resulted in a tow. Hello?? (Not you, dp, but to Britt).

Yeah lets say the worker called her a “rich b.tch”. you don’t come back and hurl insults. You ask to speak to a manager or call headquarters. I heard the company is notoriously rude sneaky, but I’ve been fried by Classmates.com and a few others in my life. I don’t pick on the employees. I just make a complaint. The heck with her. She is pretty but so are a LOT of women

I know way too many small business owners who pay for parking spots outside their businesses that post "for retail customers only" or "15 minute parking violators WILL be towed," yet they continue to get freeloaders continue to violate their parking (such as employees from the post office, etc.) so they, the business owners pay tow companies, even though they hate to do it, so McHenry has absolutely no reason to show her true character, or lack there of, when dressing down a female employee!

What about the liberal "War on Women" am I missing here?

The only pertinent question you can consider here is, are there warning signs around the parking lot?

The dimbletwit had to know she shouldn't leave her car over night, but she did, and learned that the signs mean what they say..

The towing company's history has nothing to do with this.

Knew people who were like her. She is a brat. I get how bad the tow companies are and how this one is low rated. But she blew her top with bad insults.

Towing is a shady business. No doubt about it. I didn’t accuse her of anything, just saying we don’t know the backstory. I sure don’t. I thought it was a chinese restaurant! Neither side is squeaky clean in this story, soooo just blowing off steam in a target rich environment.

Yeah, I think there's more to the story about why her car was towed, and maybe she has a legitimate gripe about the whole event.

But that's no reason to mistreat the tow company employee the way she did, regardless of the circumstances that led to her car being towed. That was just plain rudeness.

I honestly do not mind someone angry about their car being towed. Been there, done that. I do object to the personal, derogatory remarks she made to the young woman who was just doing her job. Petty and mean spirited of her to personally attack the young woman. It, also, highlighted her really high opinion of herself....which is sadly uncalled for as well. She proved herself an egotistical fool.
