The government’s arms race is against the American people

Democrats have spent years believing that one more left-wing justice on the Supreme Court will enable them to overturn the 2nd Amendment. And should they succeed, our most important inalienable right–the one which has secured the continued existence of all the others–would cease to exist.

Of course, it’s no use telling liberals that the Bill of Rights doesn’t work that way; that inalienable—that is, God-given–rights can’t be voted, legislated or ruled out of existence. It’s no use because in their collectivist mind the left will have acquired the Holy Grail: constitutional permission to disarm the American people.

The question is how they will try to accomplish it. How can 300 million firearms, give or take, be separated from 100 million willing or unwilling owners, give or take?

Gun owners long ago stopped believing claims by gun control zealots about the benefits of “common sense” legislation. It’s a little tough to have faith in legislators who gleefully transform Americans into felons just because they own a rifle. Ask the 1 million or so newly minted “criminals” in New York and Connecticut. So much for trust.

Gun owners must therefore be intimidated, literally frightened into relinquishing their weapons to the state. Yet each attempt to ban, confiscate and control; every SWAT team dispatched to seize a pistol rather than a criminal; all of these state and federal initiatives serve not only to create new gun owners, but commit Americans to a more determined defense of their freedom. Government’s consistent abuse of power has resulted in Americans looking at guns and liberty as one and the same thing. Guns become the only possible guarantors of liberty and with every passing year, each becomes more important and worth fighting for.

It’s a government created arms race that...

Disobey in mass quantities because once they get them, tyranny goes into overkill and killing the dissenters begins

If 5% of gun owners cherish their 2nd Amendment rights more than they fear Big Brother, how is the fight likely to end? And who will decide when the end has finally come?

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago

5% of 100 million is 5 million Americans. I doubt we'll see those numbers. In the northeast and west, they'll get what they want. In the midwest and south, there will be very bloody battles between the people and the government. I am prepared.

A few rhetorical questions.

How does one overturn an amendment to the constitution, and a part of the bill of rights...unconstitutional?

The idea that the court could say that possession of a weapon is only for militia, then it begets the question of just “who is the militia?” But even this is negated by the clear words “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

When they have finally made that leap..the first casualty will be that the English language is dead.

DOn’t be so certain in the Northeast. There is politics and then there is reality. THe unSAFE act was passed and yet nobody obeyed it, and no-one is willing to enforce it.

Just last week a federal judge ruled that a state ban on “assault weapons” could stand because it “increase the public’s sense of security”. In other words it was constitutional because it made liberals FEEL safer, not that it actually did anything.

The fact is, the large standing Army is incompatible with our founder’s intent, not our right to keep and bear arms. The Democrats have dragged this country into civil war once before. They may do it again. The country will not survive another one however. It isn’t 1863 anymore.
