It was wildly popular, but not everybody likes Facebooks pro-gay marriage photo filterits prompted a backlash in Russia and across the Arab world.
If you went on Facebook over the weekend you may have seen friends profile pictures turned multicolored. Maybe you even tinted your own pic. A rainbow filter tool was introduced by the company after last weeks landmark Supreme Court decision which cleared the way for same-sex marriage across the US. But in some areas of the world, the response to the initiative was less than enthusiasticand even downright hostile.
In Russia, several filters were created which splash the colours of national flags rather than rainbow banners across a picture. One such app has been downloaded more than 4,000 times. Our response to the rainbow world #Proudtoberussian, said one typical comment by Moscow resident Elena Starkova. [ ]
In the Middle East, many social media users also came out strongly against the rainbow flag. Its a message that it hurts me, said Egyptian Twitter user Sharif Najm, while Rami Isa from Syria tweeted: Damn you and your marriage. You have distorted our innocent childhood [symbol]; we used to like the rainbow. Ahmad Abd-Rabbuh, an Egyptian political science professor, said that gay marriage is not in harmony with society and culture.

Dude that really would be a remake. It was Lot who was sent to find “One good man”.

Great recruiting tool for moslum terrorists by Ms Jarrett and odumbi
“It annoyed them, my aim in life.”
You sound like a good parent.
I unfriended anyone on FB who posted that fag flag crap. Thankfully there were only four.
Bttt
I unfriended every damn one of them.
Nope, it was Abraham, initially looking for 50 righteous people.
I must have unfriended 20 people.
Normally I ignore liberals on FB.
Now I have a rainbow free FB.
Was interesting to see the trend startup, reach it’s peak, plateau and then start to fall. Lots of valuable info there. Actually made a list of my rainbow people. Peaked at a few dozen out of hundreds. Have no idea what the idiots running this country are thinking. Are they gonna use the gay issue to conquer more nations like Libya, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan, etc.. Wag the ...
Isn’t it beautiful?
there’s a new avatar I see on BSpn where it’s the symbol of man and woman and the rainbow behind it is darkened.
It was hijacked for that very reason. To mock God. In the 70s we put rainbow stickers on cars as symbols of Faith. It now means something very different.
I marked the occasion by upgrading to Dunhill cigarettes.
Much like the KKK hijacked the Confederate battle flag, the Rainbow has been hijacked.
Yes, FaceBook is really just a massive system for culling as much information on it’s users as possible.
Which is then used to develop profiles of them. And is sold to it’s corporate and political customers. FB information and the ability to use it as a channel to target voters onna very granular level was a major factor in Obama’s 2012 victory.
So stay away from politics. Also, stay away from all the clickbait links. Particularly the “what kind of dog are you?” style surveys. Those are used to build out very detailed personality profiles of you.
And then does Fakebook keep track of those who defriended or block those who had the rainbow filter?
And they lock up my computer.
