That was then. I had one in 1962 for a traumatic cataract. They cut the cornea open like a tin can and removed the entire lens and membrane.

Nowadays they make a tiny slit on the side of the iris, slice open the membrane, slide out the clouded lens and slide in an artificial lens. Minimal damage to the eye. Heals in a day. The eye is the fastest-healing organ in the entire body.

Keep your eyes a steady as possible. Tracking works but a calm eye works better.

I had it in January. Best thing I ever done. See much better. It was like taking off a pair of sunglasses. Things were that dark.

I’ve had to wear glasses all my life.

When I had cataract surgery, I went from 20/300 in my left eye, 20/100 in my right eye, to 20/20 in both eyes. Now I only need glasses to read.

It was a liberating experience.

Operation is a snap. had both my eyes done the first of the year. You will be amazed. I have hd tv and was amazed at the difference. The sky was always gray to me now it is bright blue. The prep and waiting for your eyes to clear, takes up most of the 2 hr procedure.(surgery 15 min.)

Mine was “easy peasy”, just had to wear those nerdy wrap around sunglasses for a day or so. It took about 30 minutes and the result was terrific.

I get my right eye done August 4th. The left eye has a cataract, but not too bad at the moment. I opted for the conventional lens because I felt the other lens was a compromise. My dominant eye switched from the right eye to the left one which hasn’t helped my pistol shooting. The surgeon says it may not switch back, but I think it will.

I can’t wait for my surgery. I’m tired of the cappy vision in my right eye.

I had mine done about 18 months ago. Opted for the more expensive lens. Worked fine in the right eye, done first. The surgeon went ‘Oops’ on the left eye, so had to have the standard lens in that one. Surgery on left eye took 40 minutes, instead of the normal 20 minutes. After the surgery I had to renew my DL and passed the eye test w/o glasses. I wore glasses from the time I was five years old, thick heavy lenses. Lots of astigmatism.

I wear my glasses much of the time, as my distance vision is much better with them. Here at the computer I do not wear them...see better without them.

Wish I could have had this done when I was five!!!

I had both eyes done 10 years ago. I was almost legally blind, afterwards I could see perfectly...need only reading glasses.

We live in a wonderful age, despite Obama.

My Great Grandfather was Blinded by Cataracts and there was nothing to be done back then.

My Late Aunt contracted Glaucoma in her late Teens.
She was completely Blind by Age 23. They could do nothing for Her except ask her if she wanted her Eyes removed because of the Pain. Thankfully she declined.

I think it was a decade later when they developed Treatment for Glaucoma. There still is no cure, but they can delay it.

“I can see a golf ball at 300 yds. now”

Wow, you’re hitting them that far off the tee now? Hopefully straight down the fairway!... :)
