That’s why I like modern lightweight snub nose revolvers for CCW, especially females. No springs to wear out, no slide to rack, no ejection issues, just pull the trigger.
A woman can put it in their purse, pull it out 5 years later and bang!

A good reason to stick with a revolver. She would probably be alive if she had gone with a .38 snub nose.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Newbies to firearms are much better off with revolvers instead of semiautos. Lots of junk out there in SA that just wont cycle on a reliable basis.

If you are not familiar with guns, a 9mm semi-auto is NOT your best choice.
get a simple .38 revolver

5 rules of a gun fight:
1) gun beats no gun
- If you leave your gun behind because it is too heavy, prints too much, or any other reason .... you have no gun
- If your gun jams and you can’t clear that jam .... you have no gun
2) a hit beats a miss
3) fast beats slow
4) big holes beat small holes
5) many holes beat one hole

She had broken up with her boyfriend, who had a long criminal record. I wonder if she knew this little factoid?
If she did, my sympathy meter just went bust...
Shouldn't people with a "long criminal record" be in prison ?

Precisely why I gave my wife a .357 snub revolver.

A gun is not a guarantee of safety. True. That is why all children should be instructed in the proper use of firearms. Early instruction and continuous practice is the key.
I pray that my children will never have to shoot an attacker, but I am confident that they will be able to do so if the need arises.

Any word on the brand? I can make mine fail to feed if I limp wrist it. Not every time, but on occasion. It takes a lot or practice to master the art of firing a semi.

**She had just recently went through the concealed carry class. She had a 9 mm handgun. She fired one round and it appears the reason she dropped the weapon, the weapon jammed**
Limp wrist? Video of limp wristing.

Revolver. I’ll bet she limp wristed it and that caused the malfunction.

Sounds like she limp-wristed it and the brass stove-piped. Easy for a noob to do. Tragic consequences. “Whack it, rack it, boom” should be nearly muscle memory.

I wonder who the manufacturer was. I have a Ruger 9mm and I’ve put several hundred rounds through it over the years and it hasn’t jamed on me once.
To: marktwain
I would rather a female carry one of Ruger’s 22 Magnum Revolvers than a semi-auto. Won’t jam and 22 mag round at close range is very deadly, especially when you can pump 5 or 6 rounds quick and easy.

This makes the perfect case of why most women should own both a revolver as well as a semi-automatic. If she isn't well acquainted on how to handle a semi, she should use a revolver until she has practiced how to clear jams and misfires. On a side-note, "Ladies, don't just take the requisite minimum class. Practice regularly. Practice, practice, practice until it becomes as second hand as brushing your teeth. Your life may depend on it".

I will never understand why some of these bails are so low. It is almost as if the judge, or whomever sets them, thinks that so what if the assailant gets to the victim...one less mouth to feed. It should’ve been so high that NONE of his friends could or would want to help him make it.
