When companies pay everyone the same...

ai-ecard-glad-pay-is-all-same Made in response to Gravity Payments fiasco. It's hard to believe someone smart enough to build a successful business would be dumb enough to throw it all away...guess Dan Price wasn't that smart to begin with.

Exactly. I was going to respond with the same comment when I heard this story on Rush Limbaugh today.

Ayn Rand nailed it with the chapter on the 20th Century Motor Co. in Atlas Shrugged.

Is there anyone here who has not taken a more demanding job in order to advance and EARN MORE MONEY?

A huge part of economics is the study, or should be, of what human nature is and what motivates people.

I'm sure Price felt just ducky after he jacked up everyone's wages. But not every employee is putting forth the same effort AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT.

If I'm now getting $70K for the effort and skill level that paid me $30K yesterday, what the hell is my motivation to do better than $30K effort and skills? And the workers who busted their ass to finally get to that $70K position legitimately, what is their motivation to do any more than they are now?

Mind your language, please; there are ladies present.

Are you insinuating that the ladies are prisses who wouldn't say the word "ass" even if they were sitting on one or had someone being a pain in one? Unlike the natural vulgarity of the "females" on the Left, the Women on FR are likely a bit less fragile than what you assume them to be - your "protective instinct" is probably more of a slur on the Women/Ladies than the guy who wrote the "a" word.

It has been my experience that conservative women are more ladylike and feminine rather than given to cursing like a sailor. Leftist women, OTOH, want to be like men, so they display all of the negative male behaviors while exhibiting none of the many positive male attributes.

Being on line, IMO, makes it easy for one to forget that posted comments are viewed by many people — men, women, and children — which can lead to letting down one’s guard in the language department.

Thanks, FRiend.

I work at a factory and hear limited-vocabulary peeps use the same word for every part of speech.

I like having a break from that kind of language.

Back on topic, about paying everybody the same ... remember the Soviet Union? That worked out well. As the Soviet workers would say, “I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!”

limited-vocabulary peeps

&&&
I remember hearing my mother say that a person who cusses is showing that he has a limited vocabulary.

Yes, I remember that quip from the Soviet days.

I wonder, though, if there is more to this story. Can this fellow really be that naive? One assumes that he has some smarts and ambition if he was able to start a business like this. Did he have a reason that he wanted to destroy it?

I am rather dumb when it comes to issues of economics and commerce, but something just does not seem right about this deal.

My wife is very ladylike and feminine, but she flips a double barreled finger at the TV whenever she sees Obama or Hillary. Lol. Must be a 21st century version of Tourette’s.

Even ladies can be adults. In intense, frustrating discussion forums, some appropriate language is to be expected.

IF you want false politeness and fake pablum opinions, try C-Span.
