They run around $615.00 delivered for 1TB HD, 8GB RAM, I5 Intel CPU, DVD-RW optical drive, etc.

Actually just bought a slightly used one configured exactly like that for $225 from Salvation Army.

I disagree, though, that the enterprise won't convert to W10. They have been involved from the start in the planning of the subscription model and see this as more advantageous than any new features, many of which are irrelevant for them.

I swear is FR the place for all of the tech illiterate people on the right choose to go?

Hey, I represent that remark!

I must admit to failing to understand half of what was presented as the cure during initial installation; even some of the terminology is lacking in my lexicon.

Not really seeing the advantage here....system is slower, not as productive from the user perspective, what's the big advantage for 10?

Gives MS more data to sell, I guess.

As of this week, I now have Win 10.

I use the Chrome os and Norton Safe Search.

Amazon has confirmed that the Win 10 update erased all of my Kindle Cloud books, which they have restored.

Probably!

I have done a few web searches and cannot come up with any reason to upgrade to 10 other than "it's free." Not enough substance to justify the move, IMO

I’m sure you understand my reasons for not pinging the Windows List on this thread. It already looks like the pie fight from The Great Race; there’s no need for me to add an 18-wheeler full of pastries.

It sounds like a better option everyday. But, then there's the old learning curve. It just doesn't hurt that bad yet, but it's getting there.

Yep - the older I get, the less enthusiastic I am about digging through and OS to figure out how to make the bells ring and the whistles toot...
