What is only whispered within the Beltway is the Carson candidacy is not so much a serious effort to make him president as a fundraising scheme–and a very effective one. A polished team is making millions flogging a hopeless black candidate to guilt-ridden Republicans who are wasting every dollar they contribute. It’s a tactic they have perfected with several black long shots.
The man who filed the paperwork to set up National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee and is now its political director, Vernon Robinson, made around a quarter of a million dollars in 2014.
Mother Jones reports about $2,000,000 of National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee went straight to Eberle Associates. On top of that, the Washington Post and Buzzfeed have noticed that other companies that work for NDBCPCC share an address with Eberle Associates, and are owned by the same umbrella company, Eberle Communications Group.
Bruce Eberle brags about the money he raises. In the closing days of 2011, he wrote a revealingly titled article called The Amazing Herman Cain Money Machine, boasting about the inside role he and his associates played in the presidential campaign of the 2012 black Republican, Herman Cain. The campaign did raise a lot of money but Mr. Cain dropped out before the Iowa caucus after accusations of adultery and sexual harassment.
Lots was raised for Mr. Cain, and even more can be raised for Dr. Carson, so the people in charge of the operation will have very fat paydays. And now, in a loathsome convergence, they have teamed up with the very worst of the GOP’s pundits to promote the same black, long-shot, fake conservative.

It’s less white guilt than it is feel-good enthusiasm.
Carson’s success is mostly about single-issue purity.
Choose your single issue:
Constitutionalism
Pro-life
Fiscal discipline
2nd Amendment
Border security
Anti-crony
He is pretty pure on all those, I think — and that draws a large number of people his way.
Purity is one thing; charisma is another — and he just doesn’t have it.
I know he is unelectable because of his beliefs about the Bible. He would either have to run a vicious gauntlet of questions about 7th-Day Adventism’s thoughts on the Apocalypse, their views on Catholicism, the evils of Sunday worship, and the like — OR, deny his faith (that is a non-starter, I would think).
So, the poor guy is just a place-holder at the present time, IMHO; and he is definitely a sweetie. That however, is not enough.
For my money, this time around, it cannot be about purity concerning my pet issue. For me, now, it is about who can, and will most likely, kick liberalism’s teeth in during the general election campaign. It’s now or never; and for me, it’s Donald Trump.
Money is the root of all political progress.

I actually read your post 3x but I can't seem to like him for some reason, and there's no overt reason for that. Like you said, he's a sweetie. Something just isn't right about his candidacy, which is what led me to do the research that resulted in my post. But I still think there's more to it than that.

This is Carson:
Carson is against the Second Admendment;
He was discussing how German and World History would be altered if Jews were armed in the 30’s in Germany;
Carson said he would shut down the VA’s;
He will abolish Medicare and Social Security;
He was a liberal just like Reagan and Trump;
He spends money like a drunken sailor;
He said it wasn’t ok to go into Iraq and Afghanistan, but it’s ok to go to war against ISIS;
Carson is a pacifist;
His aide wants Farrakhan in charge of Public Policy in Chicago;
Thinks it’s immoral to deport illegal immigrants, would rather have them working on the farms and give them amnesty;
Says he has the same goals as Al Sharpton;
Sent people to other doctors to have abortions done;
White Guilt exist on the Republican side as well, esp the establishment and wealthy
Why is it ridiculous? If you bothered to go to the link, there are a lot of different articles, more factual and statistical, detailing the workings of his fundraising mechanisms. You seem to write things off without fully being informed. That's ridiculous (to me).

I don't know if it's guilt on the part of the establishment and wealthy, more of fear being painted racist by the media, dems and the public. As for everyday republicans, I just think they are very proud of their country despite America's flaws and past mistakes, and they don't understand why others aren't as well.
Like I also said: he is a placeholder, taking up a large quadrant of support which should eventually accrue mostly to Trump. I do hope so.

I honestly don't know what to make of his connection with Sharpton. There are too many things about Carson that don't make sense. I read an article where one of his neighbors said they rarely saw the Carsons, and they were not at all politically active in the community. So I don't know really what to make of his sudden entrance into politics.

Being a placeholder would make sense to me but I see no evidence of that. What is yours? The other "outsider" is Fiorina, so why do you assume his support would go to Trump? I would dearly love if it did, but what makes you think that? I don't see it yet.

You're right. If she soaks down in the debate this week, I do believe it's over for her. What a snark she is. It's the financial debate and I am hoping Trump will carve them all up pretty good. He gets really incensed over what carly did to HP.
