In a few of their debates, there has been some – well, debate – about where Ted Cruz really stands on illegal immigration and amnesty.
Here he is, in his own words, in 2011 when he was running for US Senate…
I’m strongly opposed to illegal immigration/ I am categorically opposed to amnesty. And I strongly support legal immigrants who follow the rules and come here to work towards achieving the American dream. Now with respect to securing the borders, I approach this as someone who has spent much of his adult life with law enforcement. It makes utterly no sense that we don’t know who is coming in to this country, we don’t know their criminal backgrounds. Our borders are largely unsecure, and particularly in a post 9/11 world, that is lunacy. I support any and all possible efforts to secure the border. That includes fences. That includes walls. That includes technology. That includes helicopters. That includes drones. That includes manpower. That includes employment verification. That includes approaching it as a law enforcement priority, and right now neither party is serious enough about doing it.”
Can it possibly get any clearer? This is so clear in fact, that the Democratic nominee will no doubt use it as ammo to accuse Ted Cruz of hate speech. Whether you like it or not, he stated his position succinctly, and offered exact, immediate solutions he would like to see implemented.
-snip-
Here’s the deal. I believe that at this point in the game, both Cruz and Trump want to take some serious steps toward fixing the United States immigration problem. That’s a good thing. But I’d prefer to hear them talk about said steps, rather than yelling “Nuh-uh! I’m more anti-illegal immigration than you!”

This was Cruz’ position in 2011? Back then Trump was a Democrat. So, in those days, being pro-amnesty was right. How can you trust somebody who has disagreed with Trump in the past.
Dittos. Well said...
Well, he was instrumental in killing the gang of eight's plan to pass congressional amnesty.
New math, because in the Trump world it’s not fair to Trump if one number always comes before another number so 2015 comes before 2011.

October 20, 2015: Stop Sanctuary Policies and Protect Americans Act - Vote Yea - Outcome Cloture not invoked - Senate
But this specific attack - assuming that because a first term-Senator couldn't accomplish much that he couldn't accomplish much as President - is bogus. The position itself has inherently limited power.
It is the equivalent of criticizing a Lt. Col. for putting the understrength 31 RCT in an exposed, outnumbered position on the east side of the Chosin Reservoir.
Just because LCol. Faith couldn't do much with his limited authority doesn't mean he couldn't have done a better job than Gens. Almond and MacArthur.
The problem is all immigration, not just illegal. We re being flooded with people who hate us, and I’m not talking about ISIS.
Is nobody going to ping the author???
Ping!
This video was made when he was running for Texas senator. Support is all he could say.
Well, he was instrumental in killing the gang of eight's plan to pass congressional amnesty.By lying, he admitted to it. Now no one knows when he's not lying.
The next time (if there is a next time) he makes a proposal how will anyone know it's not a lie?
Was he lying then or is he lying now?
You are right. We have enough people in the US now. Double what there was when I was a little kid. We need to just put a moratorium on immigration for awhile. Period.
“By lying, he admitted to it.”
I’m not following your thinking here.
Will you just stop once and for all trying to make this Cruz v Trump. Many of us have had enough of this crap and the crap you put out. You have already been told off a few and suspended.
This is about Cruz and him talking immigration and yet you have to bring up Trump to fuel more of your crap.
Either you are a paid staffer or a establishment type who is here to add fuel tot he argument between Trump and Cruz in order to get your boy in for the establishment Rubio.
You mean like obama has played it? Is that what you think Cruz would do as president? Play fast and loose with the constitution, rule by executive fiat, and use the US military, the US treasury and every other body of the US government to advance his personal priorities...as favorably as you may regard them?
Obama was a fast talking inexperienced JR senator who accomplished quite a lot as president. Because he was black and unchallenged, because he is an unrepentant narcissist with contempt for the American people, because he had Reid and Pelosi ramming his orders through the House and Senate and because weakling GOP nonleaders let it go along to get along.
Now, who is going to ram Ted's conservative agenda through the House and Senate? McConnell? Ryan? Do you think the democrats are going to roll over for cruz like the GOP did for obama? Do you think the entire media and establishment are going to lie and manipulate public opinion on behalf of President Cruz? Do you think the unemployment rate is going to be 5% under Presdient Cruz with everyone reporting the roses are blooming?
This is not an “attack”
It is my political assessment. Cruz is dead meat as a president even if he were to get elected. He is inspiring to about 30% of the GOP voting base and that's about it. He can't win a national election. imo. But please, enjoy the speeches.
Ping
Lol, there are other videos of Cruz discussing immigration.
Ask Jeff Sessions.
What he has done is lead the fight against amnesty, and work with the only conservatives in Congress to fight the dems and the establishment republicans.
Marco didn’t do that... And Trump didn’t... Heck Trump was supporting more then the gang of 8 before suddenly he became against it.
