Ted Cruz spoke to Chris Cuomo this morning on CNN about the Twitter battle that took place between the two of them last night on Western Tuesday. This is what he had to say:

Cruz: But what Donald did last night, and listen, you’re in New York, you’ve seen this a lot. When Donald gets scared, when he gets angry, when he’s threatened, he begins yelling, he begins screaming, he begins often cursing, and he begins trying to be a bully. So last night Donald threatened my wife, he went directly after my wife. And I gotta tell you, number one- Heidi, my wife, she’s the daughter of missionaries in Africa, she’s my best friend in the world, and if Donald wants to get in a character fight, he’s better off sticking with me because Heidi is way out of his league. But it is also– it reveals a lot about character, it reveals a lot about class, that Donald’s instinct is to try to attack my wife and sully her. And you know what, that should be beneath Donald. But you know Chris, the reason he’s doing that? Is because he had a very bad night last night. He got clobbered in Utah. Remember Donald campaigned in Utah, he tried to win in Utah, and he got blown out of the water. And he is seeing Republican uniting behind our campaign.

A PAC that Cruz has no contact with by law made a sleazy ad. Trump’s response was to immediately attack Cruz’s wife, who had nothing to do with the ad rather than look at the facts.
If Trump had called on Cruz to disavow the ad, or if it had ran for a while and Cruz said nothing, I’d agree with you. But I’m not going to fault a guy for not defending someone who attacked his wife. Is that what you would do? If someone attacked your spouse and threatened to spill secrets or even make things up about him/her, would you rush to defend the attacker or your spouse?

Again, I will explain this for you and all other Trumpbots for the umpteenth time, Cruz did not step aside, he did not have prior knowledge of this, and he did not order it.
He could not do any of those things, because he is legally prohibited from even having contact with PACs.

Yeah... other than Trump is saying he will do what he wrongly attacks Cruz for doing, since Cruz had nothing to do with it.
I like Cruz, but . . . I’m going to vote Trump in the primaries, but . . . [see my post here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3412667/posts?page=100#100 for details] . . . no. Cruz should stay on message rather than disavowing every annoyance that comes along. This is a rare exception, since it can and should be framed as part of the message.
The Ted-PAC billboard on Melania Trump was inappropriate, and Cruz should have condemned it, which would make Ted look adult and issue-oriented. Cruz cannot legally “coordinate” with the PAC, but he can say that attacks from supporters of either side on wives are inappropriate, and he should have done so.
Trump’s anti-Heidi response was inappropriate, and he should instead have pivoted to a more adult stance in responding, if for no other reason than because he needs the Cruz voters in November. In the absence of an appropriate response from Cruz, Trump should have responded by explaining politely that their wives are and ought to be off limits as targets.
Neither wife makes political speeches, both wives are women who would bring knowledge and class to the White House (If you don’t like the Melania picture, fine, but that was a long time ago and is not a part of who she has been in the past couple decades). Heidi’s economic understanding developed on Wall Street is a positive, not proof that her husband is a secret insider. Melania’s beauty and intelligence are also positives, not proof that she’s not the sort of woman we want as First Lady. Both sides handled this badly.
