18-year career marked with professional achievements and distinguished performance is over, just like that, because we can no longer say what we think. What a disgrace
A Pittsburgh news anchor named Wendy Bell, a veteran of 18 years at WTAE-TV, is now unemployed. Not because she did a bad job as a news anchor. As far as anyone can see, she didnt. In fact, it had nothing to do with anything she did on the job.
You know where this is going, right? Bell held forth on her Facebook page about a recent local crime, and was quite unrestrained in expressing her frustration and anguish over what had happened - especially because she felt pretty confident it would follow a pattern shed seen many times before. This would be a pattern that would relate to young men growing up with no fathers and having so many strikes against them before they even start their lives that something like this was almost inevitable. And oh yes, Bell acknowledged, this is particularly an affliction of the black community.
America where you are free as long as you think what you’re supposed to think and never say otherwise.
Truth hurts and will get you fired.
The unforgivable sin in the USA is saying the truth about a privileged race.
The truth is notoriously racist.
Here she apologized and took down the FB post.

Too late. The leftists will eat her alive and dine on her remains.
Once you apologize I lose all sympathy for them. They become part of the problem.
The TV station didn’t want the inevitable opprobrium no matter HOW unfair it would be.
And we wonder why Donald Trump is getting wildly rewarded for shooting at all, even though it is quite often from the hip.
Now if she’d REALLY wanted a furor... she would have quoted some black pastors telling us that they need the gospel like fish need water.
I don’t see why was objectionable about what she said. She was saddened and frustrated that this incident appeared to be part of a pattern. Where is there racism or hatred or animosity expressed towards anyone???
And, what about expressing opinion on social media? This will now get you fired from a job???
i hope she sues the pants off them
I met her at a charity even here in Pittsburgh, a gorgeous, smart, articulate, sweet lady. She cared about our community.
I sympathize with her but she’s been around long enough to know that if you are the public face of any company you just can’t comment on controversial issues in public if you want to protect your job. No, it’s not fair and I agree with her post but it is what it is. Which do you value more, your job or your pulpit?
I don’t see it, either. It’s amazing that a person got fired from a job for this.
It reminds me of an old episode of Hill Street Blues (filmed in Pittsburgh, by the way) where one of the veteran cops takes a young cop with him to pick up a particularly nasty psycho who gets his jollies having his victims plead for their lives before killing them. The pick-up goes wrong as both cops get captured. The psycho goes though his usual routine telling them he will release them if they just plead for their lives. The veteran cop tells him to go to h3ll, calls him a maggot, etc. The young cop does likewise until the psycho gets into his head. Finally, he cracks and pleads for his life and the psycho shoots him dead.
The PC fascists are just like that psycho. Always remember that Winston doesn't survive 1984.
Agreed. The Statue of Liberty should be redone to have her carrying a sign saying, “You’re free to be just like me.”
She didn’t say anything that wasn’t spot on. Every law-abiding, taxpaying citizen of the Pittsburgh area knows exactly what she’s talking about. There’s only one thing liberals hate more than lies, and that’s the truth.
