MAKE AMERICA BEG AGAIN!

Trump’s Delegates Are Now Begging for Money Online If Trump’s delegates can’t make it to the Republican convention in Cleveland this July, he could become just a weird footnote in primary history. So why isn’t he paying to get them there?

Donald Trump may be really, really rich, but it’s not apparent that he’s using his great fortune to get his delegates to the Republican convention in July. Trump is lucky his supporters are loyal. Like, beg for money on the Internet loyal.

At least seven Trump delegates have resorted to crowdfunding to send themselves to the convention, setting up pages on GoFundMe, a popular fundraising platform, asking for sums ranging from $1,000 to to $10,000.

While their tenacity is a testament to the enthusiasm surrounding Trump’s campaign, it also calls into question whether his operation is organized enough to secure his nomination on the convention floor in Cleveland if he fails to earn the 1,237 delegates necessary to win outright before July. Because if his delegates don’t show, they don’t get to vote.

Keep in mind that delegate bribery is highly illegal in Ohio. Giving a delegate anything could result in prosecution.

What a weird world these people live in when they consider this to be an unusual circumstance. This happens all the time with delegates; I’ve spoken with many who held fundrasing car washes, bake sales, yard sales (and a few who mortgaged their homes) to pay for the journey to any party convention. I’ve never heard of a campaign paying for these trips.

We need a CEO. We don't need another lawyer.

Trump can hire lawyers by the thousands.

I don’t think the candidates or superPACs can pay the expenses for the delegates. But I think an individual donor can.

Then you wouldn’t want to be a delegate. Besides, Cleveland is great that time of year. Lots of riots and stuff going on.

Pity he hasn't.

There are several things that play a part in who is put up as a delegate for the convention in the primaries. One of them is who can afford to go. After all, it is a volunteer post and something of a hobby for the average delegate who sees it as the only “perk” they get for the hard work of running a party apparatus, regardless of the party, Dem or Rep.

Folks new to politics sometimes don’t know that being a delegate isn’t just cheering at rallies for your candidate. You normally have to work your way up the party ladder, starting with making phone calls, raising money, putting out signs and bumper stickers.

And the final thing folks new to politics will find out is that the title of delegate will get you a cup of bad coffee at party headquarters but very few, if any, local party organization are going to pay your way to the convention.

Sorry, it’s bogus. The reporters cherry-picked people who never contacted the Trump campaign.

Nice try yourself.

We were told at our District Caucus that if you want to go to Cleveland, you have to be prepared to pay a minimum of $3,000 for all expenses (airfare, food, lodging, transportation and evening entertainment), which includes a $900 delegate fee. It was emphasized that making the effort to become a delegate should go with the idea you would pay the necessary expense. Going to the National Convention would be a lifetime experience and every dollar you spend is well worth it.

Meanwhile, other Trumpists are THREATING Cruz Delegates.

Just received 2 postcards that included my phone # on the front:
From:
#WeThePeople
TRUMP VOTER

“#WeThePeople are Million in Numbers Watching
Trump Voters wrote to FBI Director Comey to Investigate
Your connection to Ted Cruz Pay Off’s. CO Voter Fraud”

“Voter Fraud, Voter Suppression is a Federal Crime
You will be Prosecuted if found Guilty
FBI an IRS audits and investigations are forthcoming”

“Trump Supporter’s will not be Silent”

Either the author didn’t pass 8th Grade or thinks I didn’t.

These were sent from Springfield, MO

They cannot afford to travel to Ohio? Something someone should have thought about before signing up to be a delegate to a convention on Ohio.

Is there any legal reason a campaign cannot pay their delegates travel expenses? It seems to me that it would be a legitimate campaign expense.

I am not suggesting putting money into any of the delegates’ pockets, just paying the reasonable and necessary costs of getting them to the convention.

It's not too terribly discerning to read the story:
"The would-be Trump delegates reached by The Daily Beast have not had any contact with the campaign about convention logistics. Rather, they’re setting out on their own to make America great again."
