When Barack Obama speaks to the public, it is very rare that he does so without a specific purpose in mind. So why is he urging Americans to be prepared for a disaster all of a sudden? On May 31, Obama took time out of his extremely busy schedule to deliver an address at the FEMA National Response Coordination Center in Washington. During his speech, he stressed that every American is responsible for preparing for disasters, and that includes having an evacuation plan and having a fully stocked disaster supply kit. These are basic steps that I have been encouraging people to do for years, but if they wont listen to me, perhaps they will listen to the man currently residing in the White House. The following excerpt from Obamas speech comes directly from the official White House website
One of the things that we have learned over the course of the last seven and a half years is that government plays a vital role, but it is every citizens responsibility to be prepared for a disaster. And that means taking proactive steps, like having an evacuation plan, having a fully stocked disaster supply kit. If your local authorities ask you to evacuate, you have to do it. Dont wait.
This speech was timed to coincide with the beginning of the hurricane season, although hurricanes have not posed much of a threat lately.
In fact, a major hurricane has not made landfall in the United States for 127 straight months.
But without a doubt, we all need to be preparing for disaster. Hurricanes can create a short-term emergency that can last for a few days, but there are other threats that could create a major emergency that could potentially last for an extended period of time. That list of potential threats includes a major volcanic eruption, a natural or engineered pandemic, a west coast earthquake, a New Madrid earthquake, a tsunami on either the east or west coasts, a meteor impact, Islamic terror, war, an EMP burst that takes down the power grid, cyberwarfare, economic collapse, and civil unrest resulting in the imposition of martial law.
Of course the items that I just mentioned are not mutually exclusive. In fact, in different scenarios we could actually see multiple events happen in rapid succession.
It is interesting to note that during his speech Barack Obama also noted that the American people seem to have become very complacent about getting prepared
And what weve been seeing is some public complacency slipping in; a large portion of people not having preparedness kits, not having evacuation plans.
This is exactly what I have been noticing as well. There appears to be a tremendous amount of apathy out there, and relatively few people really seem to feel much urgency to get prepared these days.
My contacts in the emergency preparedness industry have been telling me that sales are way down right now. There was a big peak last fall, but since then it is like interest in prepping has just fallen off the map.
Ultimately, those companies are going to be okay because interest will pick back up shortly as global events begin to spiral completely out of control. However, of much greater concern is the fact that people have not been using this period of relative calm constructively.
Just like we have seen in Venezuela, time to prepare eventually runs out. And someday there will be millions of parents that are absolutely horrified when their children come to them crying out for food and they dont have anything to give to them because they didnt heed the warnings and they didnt get prepared.
When that day arrives, many of those families may be forced to turn to whatever help the government is offering at the time.
One more thing that I found particularly noteworthy about Obamas speech was that he said that there is now a FEMA app that can direct you to the nearest FEMA shelter in the event of a major emergency.
If you need information about how to put together an evacuation plan, how to put together a disaster preparedness kit, as Craig said, weve got an app for everything now. We have a FEMA app in English and in Spanish to help you prepare your family for a disaster. You can update the National Weather Service alerts. You can get safety tips for more than 20 kinds of hazards. It provides you directions to nearby shelters.
Could you envision yourself and your family having to take refuge in a FEMA shelter someday?
If not, you should do what you can to get prepared now. Over the next couple of days, my wife and I will be releasing a couple of new videos about preparation on our YouTube channel. In fact, I just checked and the first one is already up
Unlike Venezuela, it looks like we may still have a little bit more time to prepare for what is ahead. Some people will relax and use this time to party, but those that are wise will work diligently and will do what they can to get ready for the exceedingly challenging times that are rapidly approaching.
Hopefully you are listening to the warnings and are heeding what the watchmen are saying.
If not, the consequences for what will happen to you and your family will ultimately be on your own hands.
They certainly will be collecting what we stored for their distribution to the chosen ones...
Texture, color, and interaction with containers makes it less palatable...This is a good reason for creating your own “recycle” system by date. Currently using late 15 and 16 dated food and shopping for 18 that is stored, seldom eaten. Light and temperature must be considered too.
25 year food is mostly freeze dried. Now available as a home appliance as is the vacuum packager.
MHG you may be on to something, things that make you go “hmmmm”
As Travis McGee has put it, riding the Tiger is not as easy as planning to ride the Tiger.
I can’t disagree with you on what is going to happen. I do agree with you that we must be ready.
LOL!
I don’t think Obama cares about us at all; he’s just fostering a politically useful atmosphere of fear.
(And don’t zap me with that ‘thingie’!)

But growing some herbs, alliums and maybe having something fresh like a couple of fruit trees or tomato plants can certainly make eating all that canned stuff more interesting.
Keeping up morale is as important as anything else.
Very Good memory.
Also recall this proposed plan which could be used to organize EBT & La Raza hordes as gov’t “Change agents” to address problems with “white god n gun bitter clingers”, when the SHTF.
Ideal way to turn his most ardent low IQ / low moral constituents into organized armed revolutionaries.
Hopefully this will not happen and all will be well.
We’ll see...
Obama 2008 campaign plank:
Senator Obama introduces the idea of a Civilian National Security Force
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
“You cant plant a big enough garden.”
You’d have a hard time convincing all the people of that who lived from their agracultural plots for centuries before their were grocery stores. For me, gardening is a big part of my life as well, more than just the produce I reap from it.
“Store canned goods....Canned food is cooked and ready to eat.”
Yeah, I do have plenty of canned foods stored up, but I also have plenty of dried foods. It’s an older time tested proven technique, and food analysis has shown that for long term storage, dried foods retain the most nutrition for the longest time, plus storage is simple and takes less space.
“I think that buying a good water filter is vital.”
A good clean source of water certainly is vital. I’ve had various small portable filters, and they last for a while, and are great when on the move. Since I’m in a place that has plenty of sun, I use improvised solar distillation many of the times. The old standby of digging a small hole, adding anything with moisture content to it, placing a bowl or cup in the bottom center of it, and then covering the whole thing with a sheet of plastic and a small rock positioned over the cup works awsome. I keep meaning to build something a bit more substantial. Something perhaps like a welded pan, say 2’ wide by 8’ long and 6 or so inches deep, and water tight so it can hold an inch of water give or take. Then split a piece of @1” diameter pipe 9’ long, and place it just above water level with the extra foot running out one end. Then a couple pieces of 8’ long glass butted together at an angle situated over the split pipe to catch the evaporated condensation, which then runs out the pipe (if everything is leveled properly). Of course the thing could be made out of wood and lined with plastic to do it on the cheap. I’d put the thing on legs so a large container could be used to catch the distilled product. I’d also add a float valve to it to maintain some kind of optimal water level. Been thinking about this for some time, just need to decide that I’m gonna build it, and then do it. Should supply more than enough water for the needs of a few people during non freezing weather.
That’s an interesting possibility I hadn’t considered. It makes sense in a very evil kind of way.
“Disaster isnt the word for it. Try more closer to extinction level event.”
What do you think might be coming?
Right! And if the EBT drones can’t find food, then just go visit those folks who took prepping seriously.
Is this a setup by Obummer? He does NOT have our best interests in mind. So what is his game?

@Nachumlist Good discussion @ FR about the article https://t.co/5IFfWAK7iM Obama wants ppl 2 have supplies to take to the reeducation camps— Slip Stream News (@GaryZPon) June 5, 2016
So the process is to freeze dry and then vacuum seal?
I didn’t know there were freeze dryers available.
I see there are a variety of them on the market, some really expensive

I wonder if the low end priced ones work as good as the Cadillac models.
Just what said and nothing more. I am going to pull a Sgt. Schultz on ya.
Yellowstone caldera about to blow?
I know nothING!
Agreed. Remember what Senator Obama did in Kenya in 2006 with Odinga...
