I have only recently heard about them. No research started yet.

I bet cost is high and like dehydrators you get great differences in time needed and volume per batch. Get what you pay for?

It is a new area for home use...I think I will let experiences and reports by users be my guide...later.

Commercial canned goods are about 2018 now and dried products just need cool and dry storage to last a long time. I can fruits and tomatoes and freeze some vegetables after blanching but the electricity for long storage is not a good bet in time of trouble.

Sorting by date and meal plan, then using it as it approaches “use by” works for me...I buy on sale for storage, and use from my own supplies first. This means I will have familiar and favorite foods. Most of the 25 year foods will be too highly seasoned for me to enjoy, but I have them too.

Can you imagine any gardening that will be helpful in case of no fresh produce? Seems to me everything would be stolen before it matured. Maybe lettuce and other fast growing things that could be in Pots inside screened area...I do not imagine myself armed and guarding crops as people have had to do in the past.

I have been preparing for a long time now.

Occasionally I have to give to food banks before the end date and I have over supplied...but not often and a good thing to do.

I do get long-winded sometimes...see the reply to syncro just above this!!!

Good luck getting PREPPED!

Long storage in a chest style freezer is pretty economical if it is full to the brim.

My garden is in the back forty (that's 40’ : > ) which is fenced in and locked.

I have several “plots” on the back deck which is covered with clear roofing for sunlight.

I can put up temporary walls with wind shields made for pop-up. They are forty foot lengths.

It keeps the warmth in during the winter months.

I have a couple of tomatoe plants that have stared filling out again. Tomatoes [quail spelling...) will grow all year, most people think they are annual plants.

Probably because they freeze in the winter and die.

Char grows all year around outside, does well in winter.

All my herbs I grow on the deck. Mint is in the garden as its pretty hardy. Spreads like wildfire though but the new areas where they are not welcome are the areas to harvest from.
For tea with lemon balm leaves so no lemons need to be bought for tea.

Relatives have lemon trees anyway, so they are almost always available. (If they are not home...JK they have more than they can use.

I have arugula growing on the deck, no lettuce yet. Had lettuce last year, all year around. Just harvest some outside leaves and it keeps producing more and more.

Gotta keep them from going to seed.

My kids have smokers for fish etc.

Hunters with bow and arrow, always seem to have venison around.

And one raises hogs.

Isn’t it something that we even have to ask why obama would be telling us to be prepared? If a normal president did that we wouldn’t suspect him of planning to hurt us in some way. We would just think “oh yes, I should get more prepared.”

Me too. We have one in the main kitchen-reverse osmosis for the tap water from our well. We have the ones we bought for emergencies stored along with replacement parts etc.

Does your reverse-osmosis filter remove fluoride?

“Does your reverse-osmosis filter remove fluoride?”

I had an under the sink unit that I bought specifically to remove the high trace mineral content in my well water including fluorine and arsenic. It was made by Whirlpool and had three different filtration canisters. It worked very well until one winter when I was gone for an extended period, there was a fairly long cold spell, and the canisters froze, swelled up, and split open.

I can’t remember. We got the best one that Lowe’s could get. We don’t have fluoride in water here. Some area’s have had some lead contamination in the soil, but not in our subdivision.

Still, I did make sure that it would remove lead.

the rest of this krap and are able to repair all the damage he’s inflicted on the American people

And most people are too ignorant to see it or refuse as in the case of blacks. Even though the man is a total fraud and is white as well as black. But, he plays the black thing to the hilt.

Perhaps certain considerations are dictating the end of the money-printing that has been keeping the economy on life support(?)
