Why Donald Trump Will Choose Newt Gingrich as His Vice President
Canada Free Press ^ | 07/04/16 | Mitch Wolfe

The Donald and The Newt Will be a formidable dynamic duo

Anything is possible with Donald Trump. He is constantly unpredictable. He is always going against the political grain. Marching to his own drummer. Making up his own rules as he goes along and then not following his own rules.

But underneath the bombast and blarney, Trump is a clear-eyed, cold-hearted, calculating realist.

He knows that his strengths are his acute political instincts. He has an innate ability to perceive “the big picture”, but “a big picture” that is usually a very different picture than is often portrayed by the mainstream media.

Trump doesn't play the affirmative action game. He looks for brains, experience, talent, stamina, and trust.

Not gender.

Not skin color.

Newt's talents would be completely wasted as veep. He should be seated at the right hand of Donald for the next four years as advisor and strategist.

Allen West, good guy, but he's like watching paint dry.

Forget get the ex-military woman...no experience where it counts.

I look for an exciting, conservative not talked about yet...with an outside hunch nagging at me that Christie may be the one in Trump's picture.

I think that for a long time Trump has known in his own mind who it's going to be.

“Sessions please.”

Jeff is my pick.

Newt can have some other position. Newt flips a lot. He once said that the “Era of Reagan was over.”

I don’t want Trump to make the mistake Reagan did, listening to the party and picking someone like a Poppy Bush as VP.

If he wants the 2012 convention losre, I prefer Santorum, who ran much better than Newton.

Simple: America first means domestic legislation.

Newt knows how to work Congress.Newt is the only Republican to stand up to the Libs the past 25 years.(Paul Ryan is a *ussy.)

I keep wanting to want Newt as VP, but his recent flubs such as going out of his way to criticize Trump for questioning the hispanic judge’s motivations and his support of Ryan for Speaker, remind me of his couch moment.

Also…his wife scares me.

Newt was also a leading political force in Washington pushing for Slick Willy’s impeachment for lying to Congress and the American people, that he did not have sexual relations with his innocent, naïve and victimized female intern, Monica Lewinsky.

Actually, no, the gravamen of Bill Clinton's offense was his perjury which he committed to fix a court case. The Clinton forces succeeded in making the story about sex and thus offered the public a chance to feel worldly and sophisticated by discounting its significance. The true crimes of Bill Clinton in that affair included perjury, suborning of perjury, conspiracy to commit perjury, concealment of evidence, conspiracy to conceal evidence, etc. for some of which he was disbarred.

I have supported Newt Gingrich for years and did so on the last cycle when many on these threads were treating him the way Ted Cruz was treated in this cycle. Newt Gingrich is the obvious choice for vice president for one overriding reason: he has proved that he will stand up against Democrat presidents and fight for conservative values and that he knows how to win those fights. Nothing could be more appealing to Tea Party members or conservatives in general who have been betrayed by the Republican congressional leadership.

Beyond that, Newt Gingrich offers the kind of charisma that will compensate for the deficiencies of the Trump campaign which include lack of staff, lack of presence on the ground, lack of money, lack of a data mining ground game, and dissension in party ranks. To compensate for these deficiencies we have the extraordinary charisma of Donald Trump and his genius in exploiting free media. Now we would add Newt Gingrich of similar talents to the team enhancing what promises to be a whole new approach to campaigning rendering the noted deficiencies far less significant.

Newt' s baggage is largely irrelevant at this point because it is simply swept up in the whole Trump tsunami. Neither Trump nor Gingrich are likely to win over hard-core Democrats, their target are persuadable Democrats, lunchpail Democrats and independents. Among these target groups Newt's marriages will be of no more significance than Trump's and Gingrich's so-called ethical lapse will rightly be seen for what it was, relatively trivial compared to Hillary.

Sole drawback I can see concerning choice of Newt Gingrich for running mate is his age. Not because he will appear to be an old white male, that simply is a myth already disproved by Bernie Sanders, but because Newt in four or eight years will be too old to run in his own right and we will lose the chance to place a second 4 our 8 year Republican administration.

I do for one reason .. Newt knows his way around Congress. Who to deal with .. who to ignore .. who to rely on to get his legislation a fair shot.

And .. Newt’s “Contract with America” was very, very successful. That method would serve Trump well, considering all the things Trump hopes to accomplish.

I suspect Santorum is a sleeper on the short list.
Knows his way around Congress. Helps with the rust belt union vote. Also helps with the pro life Catholic vote.
Trump will win regardless of who he picks.

It's hard for me to get past that image of Newt sitting on the couch with Nancy Pelosi and spouting that global warming baloney.

However, Newt Gingrich was the Donald Trump of 2012 and he had his moments such as in this South Carolina debate.. Newt would go on to win the South Carolina primary by a huge margin but did not have the resources to prevail against Mitt Romney and the GOPe machine.

Id rather see him as Chief of Staff

I see that a lot here. Newt would make a horrible Chief of Staff (CoS). CoF is a workaholic, make the train run on time position. Newt is not a play by the rules workaholic. Newt is an out of the box idea man, some of his ideas are genius, and some of his ideas are moronic. Newt would make an excellent VP to Trump, he knows DC inside and out and as a former speaker of the House he knows how to get Trump agenda thru congress. Trump might not pick Newt, but he could not do much better than Newt as VP.

Since I often disagree with you I thought I'd just say .... Other then the Ted Cruz stuff, I pretty much agree with everything you said.

Newt as VP for Trump's first term, then a younger VP for Trump second term is the way to go.
