I look at it this way: Obama has kept Federal law enforcement muzzled & on a short leash where Muslims & violent leftists are concerned.
Federal agents know that PC restrictions on their freedom of action against demonstrators will vanish when Trump assumes office. They have probably already been advised that hitting January 20th disrupters good and hard will carry few consequences.
As in broken heads and blood of SJW’s in D.C. streets.

I know the game. They used it in the 60s and it worked well for them. It won’t work now. Too many other sources of information and everyone has a camera. It is why Occupy Wall Street failed.

I was part of the Presidential Cordon in 1992. Between the crowd and the Presidential Parade route were 1)Barriers 2)DC Area Police 3)US Military Ceremonial Units 4)Federal Security 5)Secret Service.
The Police handle virtually all of the crowd interactions. Should any crowd goers attempt to cross the barriers, they are handled by the police first. I was US Army. Our role was to line the parade route as part of the presentation and provide aesthetic security. We were lined up about 10 feet inside the police line and spaced about 20 feet apart along the entire parade route. We faced inward the whole time at parade rest, saluting the motorcade as it drove by or the President and family walked by. Our only participation in regards to physical security would have come from direct orders. All authorized foot traffic took place between us and the police. No authorized personnel were allowed beyond our cordon with the exception of the next layer of security.
Inside our line was Federal security facing the crowd. They were tasked with observing the crowd and intercepting any threats. As part of our security briefing, it was clear that anyone making it past the barriers and local police would not make it past the Federal Security without encountering deadly force.
Finally, Secret Service surrounds the motorcades and the President should he decide to get out and walk. We were made aware of security in the crowds and buildings, but I only knew the layers of security that were along the parade route in 1992. I would imagine the level of security is greater by several orders of magnitude now.
