BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - During a protest in Birmingham, members of Black Lives Matter express concerns about President Trump's tweet on Chicago.
The president tweeted that he might send in the federal government if the city can't get its murder rate under control.
Members of the Birmingham chapter of Black Lives Matters say the president's claim is an example of black inferiority.
And they say it negates the work currently going on in that city to end black on black crime.
They say that situation and President Trump's threat is not the key to mending relationships between communities and police, but that it does just the opposite and creates fear.
And they feel it doesn't address the core issue.
"I think this idea that over policing a community reduces crime is false. And it's verifiably false, member Martez Files said.
There's data and statistics that show that sending in a bunch of police officers into one area does not reduce crime. The only thing that will reduce crime is substantive--the creation of jobs, program change and how we talk about and view communities. And so we have to view communities from an asset based lens."
SO, Black Lives Matter never addresses the Black on Black crime in Chicago, until Trump tries to actually do something?
BLM would rather have the killing continue. There’s a narrative to preserve.
Trump is racist because black gang bangers in Chicago shoot each other.
Big city liberal nitwit. Not all of us down here are stupid.
Black lives don’t matter to Black Lives Matter.
With Democrats only black votes matter.
Because black lives matter to Trump, but not to Black Lives matter.
Since about 75-80% of the shooting victims in Chicago are black, that means that there are about 600 black lives that didn't matter.
They should be criticizing Obama for doing nothing for 8 years. And the Republican Governor hasn’t done anything either (that I know of) I’d have sent in the national guard or something.
I live in Chicago, not a bad neighborhood thankfully but a bad neighborhood is a short walk away. Something should be GD done to stop this rash of murder (and no, not friggin gun control, that won’t stop the bangers). If Mayor McCheese isn’t up to the task, the President should damn well take matters into this own hands. Naysayers can go to hell.
BLM is a travesty WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more Black people are dying on the streets of Chicago due to gun violence than are ever harmed by police.
And so we have to view communities from an asset based lens.
IOW, send us money and “programs”, not cops.
Congress provides for calling forth the Militia to execute the laws of the union. Article I, Section 8, Para 15

OK...
Isn’t that like the old
‘Whites are smarter than Blacks - J Jackson et all say’
If a Black is ‘killed’ in a ‘White’ neighborhood they scream ‘he has a right to be there’.
If a White is killed in a ‘Black’ neighborhood they scream ‘he should have known better than to be there’.
So, ‘they’ are saying Whites are Smarter than Blacks.
I live in Wheeling and work in downtown Chicago. I didn’t know there was any work currently going on in that city to end black on black crime.
“...the President should damn well take matters into this own hands.”
Good. GOOD! Your inner Palpatine is coming out.
If we would have picked our own damned cotton 200 years ago, we never would have had these problems!
Nice call!
