2nd Amendment Advocates, The Onus is On You, PROVE the Govt Can't Confiscate
Freep | Cinco de Mayo | CharlesOconnell

If you believe that the government can't confiscate 200 million guns in a single year, you have never seen The Minority Report, you don't take account of high-tech that can locate your guns wherever they're locked away, technology that can see through walls as if they were open to air.

I'm in the middle, I admire the self-reliant yeomanship of gun owners. At the same time, I listen to the other side. I knew of Gabrielle Giffords before she was shot. (I was reading about her because I wanted to understand the thinking of pro-abortion libertarians.) I got rid of my guns 35 years ago because I had an accidental discharge in the same room in which my infant son was getting his diaper changed. But experience of a menacing crime incident now has me looking at pistols.

Juan Williams goes against the grain of his conservative colleagues, speaking on the topic on Fox News, expressing skepticism that mere possession of hundreds of millions of firearms, even some beyond legal status, can protect us if some future leftist regime overrides public opinion in favor of gun ownership, to finally and conclusively disarm the American people.

The future development of high-tech is against our advantage in mere numbers possessing personal firearms. No doubt, most libertarians don't care about their hand-wringing issue, since leftists are now getting armed. The Soros-Gates-Buffet axis only seeks to disarm us, to render us powerless, so we'll be more easily governable and compliant.

My prediction? If the day ever comes, the minute the law is signed, there will be NO police. No Army. No militia. When wearing a uniform becomes a death sentence on sight there won’t be a uniform to be found.

I just re-read your headline ... you demand that people prove a negative. That’s an impossibility.

And your demand to prove a negative is stupid anyway. The question is not whether the goons can confiscate ... if they try hard enough they can. Nobody really disputes that.

The question is whether the citizens can make the price so high the goons aren’t willing to pay it.

When the people being sent to confiscate these weapons genuinely worry they will not go home that night it will stop. Won’t take many to get the point across

I agree but the unanswered question still remains. Who is going to say goodbye to their family, job and the good life and go to prison, especially if not enough others will do the same.

We as a society are conditioned not to interfere, even if witnessing brutal muggings, assault and rape in plain view.

“The question is not whether the goons can confiscate ... if they try hard enough they can.”

But we’re the only armed country. Successive waves of leftist political movements made disarmament of the populace their first goal.

And they all succeeded.

I hear ya.

I am just as sure you realize I am not advocating killing Law Enforcement Officers at this moment. In a fictional reality where the authorities think they can disarm AMericans anyone with a badge and uniform is gonna be in deep trouble. I realized long ago, that cowering in my home should the day ever arise was not a response in my behavior inventory.

It’s not just on the job that this would be an issue. I would (permanently) shun any law enforcement officer who participated in confiscating firearms, and the same for their families. Some armed Americans would react more forcefully to such traitors, at their homes and in the community, and there would be more forceful patriots than there would be treasonous LEOs.

The author gave up his right of possession, because SOMEHOW a loaded firearm, possibly a semi-automatic pistol, has a negligent discharge.

The author has proven his psychological image of “the wet puppy on its back”.

He is not of the type to own any firearm, even a nerf gun.

There are more of who are of the type, determination, and preparation.

Successive waves of leftist political movements made disarmament of the populace their first goal.

In all cases that I'm aware of, the populace voluntarily complied. This, we must not do.

I'm not sure I'd be drawing any broad conclusions on the feasibility of gun confiscation out of Hollywood. Fiction is fictional, after all. And the question of whether the possession of firearms in a population might discourage a left-wing confiscation program ignores the real-world fact that it already is. Better established is what happens when such a program actually succeeds - post-revolutionary Russia comes to mind. It isn't pretty.

According to a 2007 survey cited by wiki, gun ownership in Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden is just over 30 guns per 100 residents. That compares to 45 guns/100 residents in Switzerland and 112/100 for the US.

Looked at that way, northern Europeans have 2/3 of the guns that the Swiss have.

Underground safe and hidden stashes with the guns literally buried.

Have a few gravel piles on your property with empty boxes buried for a decoy under them.

Then get some water tight containers and some bricks and submerge your weapons in a small pond / lake...
