An Iowa newspaper ran a front-page editorial Wednesday telling President Trump that "now is not the time for a rally" ahead of his campaign event scheduled in the state later in the day.
The editorial board of The Gazette in Cedar Rapids asked in an open letter to Trump for him to not hold his scheduled rally in the city but instead talk about his policies and how he will help Iowans.
(TWEET-AT-LINK)
Mr. President, the campaign is over. You won. Now is not the time to rally. Now is the time to sell your policies, listen to Americans with a stake in those efforts and govern, the letter read. Iowans have questions and concerns about your plans. They cant be heard over the cheers of a rally.
The letter listed a litany of topics that it said Iowans are concerned about, like cuts to crop insurance in Trumps budget, paying for flood protection in Cedar Rapids, climate change, healthcare and funding for public schools. The newspaper encouraged Trump to talk to local leaders in lieu of the rally. Thats a lot of ground to cover while youre on the ground in Iowa. But we think its critical you understand the real world implications of these and many other policies your administration is proposing, the letter reads. We concede its not as much fun as hearing the cheers and chants of folks convinced youre making America great again. But its what presidents do.
That is exactly her beef.
Liberals fear being mocked most of all. They make no sense and cannot back up a damn thing they do.
It is a world of perception for them and this is taught since birth. Not one lick of truth resides in them.
Create the perception thus make it real. They are their own God.
There would NOT be the cheers at a rally if he weren’t KEEPING his promises YOU IDIOT!!!!
You might want to re evaluate your target.
I wonder if "Si, se puede" rings a bell with these idiots in Cedar Rapids?
Now is not the time for anyone to buy their crappy “news”paper.
Stopping the regulations on “climate change” will save them a lot more than the increased costs of crop insurance.
Thou shall NOT.
Arrogant leftist thugs.
You’re right - they endorsed Hillary:
http://www.thegazette.com/subject/opinion/staff-editorial/endorsement-clinton-for-president-20161023
“Hillary Clinton is arguably the most broadly prepared candidate for presidency in the history of the office. Her long history of public service has included serving as first lady in Arkansas and in Washington, D.C. In both positions, she strove to be an active force in driving public policies to better the lives of American families, women and children.”
BARF
He informs Americans through rallies since the MSM fails to do anything but criticize Trump. The crowd tonight loved hearing from the President in person.
I hope the Gazette loses so many subscriptions the publisher has to fire the editorial board.
My target was the person writing the article!!!!!
Mock dims. Being laughed at destroys them.
The word "arguably" used to be a well-worn tool of journalism majors/poli-sci minors at U of I back in the days when I used to crash at HS classmates' apartments and have to listen to their current paramours solve all the world's problems within the space of a bottle of wine or a couple of joints. I wonder how many of those John Reed-wannabees ended up at the Gazette over the years?
When I was little, the CR Gazette used to pretend they were as "good" as the DM Register; nowadays, they can take solace in the fact that they actually are every bit as bad.
Mr. niteowl77
“but instead talk about his policies and how he will help Iowans.”
Can they really be this stupid????? They don’t realize that President Trump talks to us through his rallies. If your editorial board weren’t total hacks, maybe he could talk to you.
He won the Presidency by talking to us at rallies, why would he change now?
“Can they really be this stupid?”
Yes
Iowa paper says it’s no time for a Trump rally = get a larger facility President Trump...you’re going to need it!
