An Iowa newspaper ran a front-page editorial Wednesday telling President Trump that "now is not the time for a rally" ahead of his campaign event scheduled in the state later in the day.
The editorial board of The Gazette in Cedar Rapids asked in an open letter to Trump for him to not hold his scheduled rally in the city but instead talk about his policies and how he will help Iowans.
(TWEET-AT-LINK)
Mr. President, the campaign is over. You won. Now is not the time to rally. Now is the time to sell your policies, listen to Americans with a stake in those efforts and govern, the letter read. Iowans have questions and concerns about your plans. They cant be heard over the cheers of a rally.
The letter listed a litany of topics that it said Iowans are concerned about, like cuts to crop insurance in Trumps budget, paying for flood protection in Cedar Rapids, climate change, healthcare and funding for public schools. The newspaper encouraged Trump to talk to local leaders in lieu of the rally. Thats a lot of ground to cover while youre on the ground in Iowa. But we think its critical you understand the real world implications of these and many other policies your administration is proposing, the letter reads. We concede its not as much fun as hearing the cheers and chants of folks convinced youre making America great again. But its what presidents do.
Every dem I know cannot keep up with any conservative.
They have nothing. In 2016 a Dem I work with that was ready to retire was so worried his 401 would tank if Trump were elected.
He listens to bull.
Dems make no sense at all about anything.
linn county maybe one of the 4 that went hilliary
My home paper has become a liberal self righteous “fake news” rag. It pains me to even look at its pages...and I grew up a Paperboy!
They did.

Almost breathtaking, isn’t it?
CNN brought this up and called them conservative. They endorsed Hillary! CNN being dishonest as usual.
The crowds disagree.
I am sure the rally was planned a long time ago. The votes yesterday in Georgia and S. Carolina had nothing to do with the rally

What jealous loser talk. If he came to Iowa and just spoke to local leaders as she advised, she would have said he should talk to the people as he promised. Its what presidents do.
Also he does not need to sell his policies. They are our policies.
He's driven them nuts. Rubber room, straitjacket, batshit howling-at-the-moon nuts. It's the only cogent explanation.
We don’t need a rally,just send more taxpayer money,typical
The Gazette has traditionally endorsed Republicans. They did not endorse Obama. Like all MSM, they’re dropping their masks and going increasingly Leninist-Stalinist.
Kudos to the person that selected the backdrop material.
Trump is showing the MSM and Congress that their attempts to use false charges and bogus partisan investigations to weaken his support and separate his base from him are failing.
It doesn't hurt that it reminds fellow Americans that his popularity polls are fake news, too.

Considering the ownership of this rag, this ain’t a shocker. The CEO of Gray supported Rubio.
They are in mourning and can’t even think straight but they will have to live with this taste of the real world. BTW as usual Trump was great!
Haha. What a crock.
That’s like a gambler losing a $100k bet and then proposing to the winner “How about even though you won, you pay me the money, instead of me paying you? Yeah, that’s the ticket.”
IMHO dims are romantics. Most of the rank and file use an emotion based thought process. It is quite difficult for them to see reason. Thus the gulf between us. We must bridge this gulf to survive.
